7 Easy Ways To Save The Car Fuel
These days the budget to buy fuel for our car is relatively huge. It's impossible to reduce the car use, especially for those who are busy with high mobility. Even if you're a stay at home mom, you still have to pick up the children from school, courses, pick up the laundry, go for shopping etc. But no need to be confused, there are ways to deal with fuel usage to be more efficient. I think at least there are 7 easy ways to saving the fuel :
1. Know exactly where we are going or the route.
When we'd like to go to a place that had never visited before, we could check it from the map first or we could see through GPS (global positioning system). That way, we know where the line should be taken and reduce the risk of being lost. At least we could manage the route and decide what road to be taken. We could set the plan to avoid the traffic jam too if we had known the place already. Finding an address can spend a lot of time and fuel if we really do not know the intended area.
2. Driving Smart
Driving smart means you know when you can drive fast and when to slow down the vehicle. Do not drive aggressively or in a rush. Driving with the aggressive acceleration and braking means fast. It is a perfect way to spent more fuel. In fact, if we drive in an urban area street like in some of my country's main street (I'm talking about Jakarta's and Bandung's main streets) you may never had a chance for speeding. There will be traffic jam everywhere. Sometime the traffic jam was so horrible and many drivers decided to turn their car off. I think 40 mph is enough.
3. Not turn the engine while waiting
Have you ever waited for friends in the lobby of the office or a parking lot with the engine running condition? Who will do that ? You might ask. But some driver do that. Some people think it's not efficient if they turn off the engine, it's just a moment after all. Okay, if that is just for a while, but if it takes longer than 10 minutes I suggest just turn the engine off. Calculate it, if it happened almost every day, you will spend lots of fuel just for waiting. Eliminate the habit, and better to wait with the engine off. Or pick them when they have reached the promised place.
4. Make a Direct Route
We have to consider the practicality in determining the route we would like to take. If you want to go shopping for household needs for instance, you may choose a supermarket near your office. Or choose the laundromat near your children's daycare place, etc. Not only save fuel, but also your time.
5. Shop in a complete shopping center or one stop shopping center.
Shopping in one stop shopping center could save the time. Choose a complete shopping center that has many stuffs with reasonable price. That way, you do not have to go to the another shopping center to buy other needs that are not available. Taking notes for our groceries before shopping can save enough fuel, because it can minimize the chances we forgot to buy the goods and come back to buy it.
6. Park right away when you spot empty space.
Do not round the parking lot only to find a convenient parking space. If you go straight to the empty parking lot, park immediately. Around the parking lot will only waste fuel and time. Besides looking for parking with driving around does not guarantee you will get a good parking space.
7. Start drive slowly
When we reached the green light many people tend to speeding and running fast. But avoid this, start driving slowly and adjust the speed.
Take it easy. Slow down, put on some relaxing music and just cruise. You may be surprised how much less stress is involved in driving if you eliminate the need to hurry. Give yourself extra time and learn to enjoy driving. It could save the fuel too.
Happy driving and drive safely.
