Fashion Trend 2009 in Indonesia

Updated on May 6, 2011

There is a change in fashion trend 2009 especially in Indonesia. The economic conditions seem to be the cause. The fashion trend is more simple, colorful, and elegance. Many fashion designers have to explore all their creativity using the material like silk organdi, sifon, viskos, and jersey. They're going to reduce big beads and gemstones on their designs. The designers concentrate on ready to wear fashion style, that can be sold fast. But eventhough the economy is in a downturn condition, Indonesian designers still have time to gather and did the fashion show called " Fashion Exploration An Overture of Harmony 2009 " in Jakarta a few months ago (Dec 4, 2008). About 800 dresses have been exhibited and 58 designers get involved. There were 5 themes for that event Moslem, Ethnic, Urban, Contemporer, and Evening. Beside those themes, the Fashion Exploration also combined the fashion with Indonesian culture like ethnic arts (ornamentations) and traditional cloth. You may find some of the photos here.

He is one of the very talented young designer in Indonesia, now he starts to explore the traditional materials for daily suits and ready to wear fashion.

Some of ethnic designs from Poppy Darsono, the senior member of Indonesian Designer, she use the woven material called Tenun Troso. The woven material is not as thick as usual for the convinience matter. The material is light and suit for any occasions.
