The Great Queen Seon Deok - The Most Phenomenal Korean Historical Drama in 2009
84
I don't know about you, but in my country there is one Korean Historical drama that really attract many attention lately. That's The Great Queen Seon Deok (Seon Deok Yeo Wang). My national TV that had the broadcast right of that drama have to replay it due to the request of viewers.
This saeguk drama has reached the highest rating among other Korean dramas in South Korea. The rating reaches more than 40 % in South Korea, and the drama popularity is wide spread not just in East Asian countries like Japan and China. The popularity also reached through many Asian regions like in South East Asian countries such as Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.
So, What is the drama all about ?
The History
This is about the first Queen in ancient Korean history. The history of Silla dynasti. Silla is one of three Kingdoms in Korea. Another Kingdoms are Baekje and Goguryeo. According to Wikipedia Seondeok reigned as Queen of Silla, one of the Three Kingdoms of Korea, from 632 to 647 AD. She was Silla's twenty-seventh ruler and its first reigning queen.
According to Wikipedia, Queen Seondeok before she became queen, she was known as Princess Deok Man the second daughter of King Jinpyeong. Because the King had no sons, so he had selected Seondeok as his heir. This act was not unusual in Silla periode, as women of the periode had a certain degree of inluence as advisors, dowager queens, and regents. Women were heads of families since matrilineal lines of descent existed along with patrilineal ones. During the Silla kingdom, the status of women remained relatively high, but they were expected to do their duties and not try to do activities that were considered to be unwomanly.
Seondeok's reign was a violent one, there were many rebellions and fighting with the neighbor Kingdom of Baekje. Seondeok was known as a smart queen. She kept the kingdom together and extended its ties with China. Sending many scholars to China and learn from that country. Seondeok was drawn to Buddhism and presided over the completion of Buddhist Temples.
Seondeok built the "Star-Gazing Tower" or Cheomseongdae as the first observatory in East Asia. Cheomseongdae still stands until now in the old Silla capital of Gyeongju, South Korea.
Was the drama represent the real history of the queen ?
Not exactly, but the main story, characters, achievements, and strategy were real. There are differences of course, like in the drama, it was mentioned that Princess Deokman is Princess Chon Myong's younger twin sister. Actually, the history never mentioned that both princess are twin. And the appearance of Lady Mi shil.
Lady Mi Shil is a historical figure of Silla, but her existence is controversial because she is not mentioned in both Samguk Sagi and Samguk Yusa (Legend and History of the three Kingdoms of Ancient Korea). However, Lady Mi shil is a very important figure in Hwarang Segi.
Hwarang Segi is a a historical record of the Hwarang ( flower boys) of the Silla kingdom in ancient Korea. It is said to have been written by Silla historian Kim Daemun (704). According to Hwarang Segi, Lady Mi Shil was a daughter of Mijinbu the 2nd Leader of Hwarang (Pungweolju). Mijinbu's mother was Princess Samyup, the daughter of King Beopheung of Silla. Her mother was Lady Myodo. With these relations, Mi Shil gained the qualification of a noble within the bone rank system.
In the drama series, Mi Shil is a major opponent of Princess Deokman.

The Drama
The drama is directed by Park Hong Kyun and Kim Keun Hong. MBC production. 50 episodes and due to audience attention was added by 12 episodes more. Writer Kim Young Hyun
The story takes place in the southeast Korean kingdom, Silla, which has been expanded by the late King Jinheung. An aristocrat named Mishil, whose power could rival a king's influence, desires to be queen. One opportunity comes when the wife of Jinheung's grandson, Jinpyeong, gives birth to twin girls.
There was a prophecy saying that if a king has twin girls, the male seeds in the royal bloodline will dry up, in other words, no proper royal male heir (Eochul Ssangsaeng Seonggol Nam Jin). Mishil and the nobles on her side plan to expose the twins so they can remove the current queen and get Mishil that position. In order to prevent this, Jinpyeong sends his youngest daughter away with a clumsy palace maiden, though not without huge regrets (he's shown shaking when he carries his oldest daughter). The maid, Sohwa, manages to escape pursuit with the help of one of the hwarangs (Silla equivalent of knights), Munno, the strongest hwarang in Silla.
15 years later, the younger twin, named Deokman, grows up in the Taklaman Desert in China, where she lives in a merchant town with Sohwa. She is cunning, witty, and a tomboy. She meets Chilsuk, one of Mishil's men who was sent to find the younger twin, who has been trying to carry out his lady' orders for FIFTEEN YEARS. Chilsuk later realizes that Deokman is the twin and tries to capture her, but fails when a sandstorm strikes.
Deokman resolves to go to Silla to find out why she was being pursued. When she arrives, she meets her older sister, Cheonmyeong, and future Korean general Kim Yu-shin. Five years later Deokman learns that she's the daughter of the king who abandoned her, and Mishil once again tries to expose her, while a noble loyal to the king sends assassins to kill her. Chunmyeong tries to help her younger sister escape, but is accidently killed by one of Mishil's people. Deokman then resolves to get the royal court to reacept her as princess of Silla and fight Mishil in her struggle for power.
The drama is so addicting, thrilling, full of wisdoms, awesome, and I just feel that I can't get enough of it.
1. Beautiful casts
Lee Yo Won as Queen Seondeok
"The queen is my destiny" Lee Yo Won is a fine Korean Actrees that really suit in her role as Princess Deokman later Queen Seondeok. She could describe a smart, wise, brave, intelligent and righteous queen beautifully.
Go Hyun Jung as Lady Mi Shil
Mi Shil is a complicated character with many tactical strategy. She became powerful due to her relations with Kings and Poongweoljoos. She was the wife of Sejong, 6th Pungweolju, and was the major royal harem of 3 kings(Jinheung of Silla, Jinji of Silla, Jinpyeong of Silla). Also, she was in love with Prince Dongryun, eldest son of Jinheung, and Seolwon, 7th Pungweolju.
Her power was proved when she persuaded Jingol nobles to expel King Jinji from his throne. And her two sons (Hajong, Bojong) also became 11th, 16th Pungweolju respectively.
Go Hyun Jung is a brilliant actrees that make Mi Shil character become outstanding. She had the most audience attention within this drama
Eom Tae woong as General Kim Yu Shin
He's a great General of Silla and in love with Princess Deokman. But fate make this couple unable together. With a handsome face and outstanding battle skills, he became the leader of the elite Hwarang corps. With a grand vision of unifying the three kingdoms under Silla’s rule, he aligns himself with Princess Deokman who puts her complete trust in him. Princess Deokman later fell in love with Kim Yusin but they were unable to be together due to a twist of fate.
Park Ye Jin as Princess Cheon Myeong
She was Princess Deokman's twin sister. She's under Mi shil's influence. She has charisma and intelligence. After learning that she had a twin sister, she and Princess Deokman were reunited. While trying to reinstate her sister as a princess, she was accidentally assassinated by Mi-shil's man.
Kim Nam Gil as Bi Dam
He is Mi shil's son with King Jinji. Mi shil has abandoned him and he was taken as a student by Moon Noh - the best Hwarang Captain. Bi Dam also in love with Princess Deokman and make the story to be more interesting.
Bi Dam is like his mother Mi Shil, he also has a unique and complicated character. He could be charming, smart, funny, kind, energetic, hilarious person but suddenly he could become very fearful and mean.

Queen Seon Deok OST Can't I Love You by Kim Nam Gil
The video above is one of the Original Soundtrack from Queen Seon Deok. An additional soundtrack that just released at January 8, 2010. The song is sung by Mr Kim Nam Gil who played as Bi Dam. The man who really loved the Queen but in the end their love story has ended just like that because of some miss understanding.
The Song is quite suitable with Bi Dam's character in these series. The one who is so lonely, insecure, covering all his pain with the smiles. What made it interesting because originally Mr. Kim Nam Gil is not a singer, but I just realized that his voice is quite good.

English
Even it is so painful, I can't feel it
Even I'm waiting for you and you wouldn't come
Even I think of you with shaking so badly, I can't feel it
Since the day I put your heart in my mind
I can't put my heart else where
Even if it hurts and breaks my heart apart, I won't close my heart
I am who was living in a lonely world
You're the only one who can make me smile
Can't I love you? Can you come to me?
Just for once, can you hug me in you arms?
You're the only one I love
Can't you accept my heart?
The reason why I'm still breathing in this terrible loneliness
It's all because of you
Can't I love you? Can you come to me?
Once again, can you hug me in your arms?
You're the only one I love
For the first time and last time
Even you're alive, you can't be held in my arms
Even you throw my heart away from your mind
Can't I love you? Even if I'm just behind your back
Distantly, I just can look at you from afar
Even if I just can protect your shadow
Even like this, it's alright.. even only I love you, it's okay.

This is complete review. You brought this movie into reality. Thanks Febrie.
WOW, this hub is an awesome presentation. Your selection of pictures are absolutely beautiful and the description of the movie is better than a video trailer. Excellent!
Thank you,
I watched quite a bit of this drama the other night because now in NYC I can pick up the Korean station MBC - well done!
My first time living in Korea I lived with a wealthy Korean family and the mother was a Shilla descendant and from Jeju - so I learned so much about the culture and history.
Thanks for a great hub!
I really like Korean dramas and I was a big fan of "Jumong " . I will have to find a way to get a hold of this one. Great hub! Thank you for the preview.
Glad to run into another Korean drama freak. Haha, no offense.
I haven't watched any of the episodes but I bet I'm going to be heavily addicted to it. That's why I'm not watching for the fear that my eyes get glued to the TV screen. I prefer renting the DVDs.
the great Queen Seondeok,.,,,,is the best drama i've ever seen....i luv it.....and also nam gil kim is so cute.....
I like the film the great queen seon-deok
I love you deok man and bidam,I like your character....
We have a great liking here for Korean dramas (we call them Korea-novela). I don't know the title in your country, but I really liked the drama on King Ju-mong. This drama you featured will start airing in our local TV stations in January 2010 and the actress playing the lead role looks really familiar. Thanks for featuring her and the drama in your hub. Looking forward to watching this drama.
Great page about the show! Very informative.
This QSD-drama is one of the most rewarding tv-shows I have watched,I have most seen USA-shows before, but this...
And my favourite really is actress Lee Wo Yon as the Queen, not that Mi-Shil actress, as many others prefer.
It is with sadness we come to the conclusion that the queen's been dead for centuries and next year only a few will remember the feeling of the show gave them.
Sigh!
The Great Queen Seon Deok is the best Korean Historical Drama-after The Jewel In The Palace (Dae Jang Geum).
QSD have more complete desire, intrigue also smart dialogues in each episode.
I love tha acting of Go Hyun Jeong and Kim Nam Gil. As mother and son (Mishil and Bidam), they have a compelling acting :)
i love this drama. especially the characters in this story. i mean the actors and actresses, they're great. the different than any other Koreans players i ever seen.. :)
What a fantastic LENS. You did a wonderful job. I have been learning about Korean culture and history from my wife,(she Korean), But this is one area she has never talked about. When she sees this she will be pleased and as happy as I am to see that there really are people interested Korea and its history.
thank you so much for this LENS.
i love this drama too but is it happy ending? cause i love happy ending
thanx for ur review, it grows my knowledge of the history.
:)
yeah the three country have unite but this series has a sad ending .
i've read it somewhere, the writer of this drama is same with the writer of Jewel in the palace and JuMong .
So, I think that's why this saeguk is awesome too.
This is a fascinating article. I was not aware of this program. I will look for it on DVD. I would love to see it. Thank you for the fine review.
i've just finished watching the drama on dvd and it was really fascinating.. i've scanned through those comments before mine and we all had the same reviews for this one. my eyes are all glued on the screen and never had i thought of this as a waste of time.
indeed, koreans had a great history. i've gained plenty of insights from this drama. i'm awed with the wit character of doekman, mishil and bidam...
and finally, the actors and actresses really made the characters of the story very vibrant and alive.
i totally loved it.

hello! i also start appreciating korean film when i saw the winter sonata..
i just want to ask who was the young actress who play the role of young queen seon deok? hope to get an answer. thank you very much.
One of the Best Tele-Drama series that i have watch (in the Philippines) in fact if only if this can be compare to Movies like Troy ,Alexander , Last Samurai this one got that Hollywood level. The action and Drama plus the suspense is so intense cant wait for the next episode to be aired on GMA-7 but thanks to youtube i have watch "some" episode of it but not complete though neither way this one drama series is one of the Best Korean Tele-drama ever-ever 2 thumbs up them.
hi! what can i say i have joined the queen sheon deok fan club, most esp. the fan club of bidam.. i'm from the phils and i have already finished the series, but my copy has a poor english translation.. where can i buy that.. i dont like buying on line...
but the way thanks for all the info.
wow! fantastic! i really love the story and enjoy evry episodes.... you should watch it!
Hi, thank you so much for the info you posted about Queen Seondeok. It's very interesting. I've watched the whole drama and it's one drama that I enjoyed a lot. Lee Yo Won really captivated my heart.I like Deokman's character so much, I watched the whole drama over and over again.
BTW, just love the photo of Lee Yo Won wearing the crown. She really suits as Princes Deokman & Queen Seondeok.
It is good to see that Korea enjoys 'costume dramas' as much as the West. It tends to show (again) that there are really very few differnces between peoples around the world.
Hi..I'm done watching the entire series and it was a good story indeed. All I can say about the drama is---FASCINATING.
This drama was so addicting. The life journey of Queen Seondeok was so inspiring. I hope in real life she was the kind of person depicted in the drama, very smart & cunning yet had a very beautiful heart. I give credit to Lee Yo Won for playing the role so wonderfully. Although others were good too but I was more mesmerized by how she portrayed Deokman's character. This is indeed the most phenomenal Korean historical drama as I am now a Korean historical drama addict. Thank you so much for your article, it has given me more insights on Korean history. The Silla Crown & the Star-Gazing Tower are amazing!!! I wish I could see them in real life.
bikin seandeok season 2 ya
I really love this drama, but is it true romance between queen n bidam in the past?coz in history nothing tell about bidam, just his rebellion
im from the philippines, can't help but feel so fascinated about this drama and it hurts me a lot realising the queen and bidam's supposed love story ended in a tragic way...it feels like while watching it putting myself as the queen i can't imagine killing my own heart to reign and fulfill the grandiose dreams of her ancestors which is to unify the three kingdoms, and as to bidam's side the aspiration of becoming silla so that he can posess the girl she only loves....wahhhh can't help but shed tears to this....
Yah I've watched Jumong also seeing Munno in QSD I remembered he is the husband of Lady Sosiono who also plays a brave character, just made me sad that she was been married when Jumong return but then in the end they ended up together...however I am more fascinated and in love with QSD...Looking at the pictures of Kim Nam Gil's (Lee Han) as Bidam makes me think to visit Korea...if only given the chance but anyway I am just his big fan here in Philippines
oh my god....im already addicted to it.....hahahah i really love the story but how i wish it would be kim you shin who will be her husband,,,,

Hi. I've seen the whole movie in dvd. Unfortunately some engish translations were not that good but then, the story still pierced my heart. South Korea have a very interesting history that i would like to visit the country someday. the artist were fabulous they were able to give justice to the roles.
You did a fantastic job that in this page that i was able to understand more of South Korea's history(Silla Reign).
this is a great drama. i liked i very much. and i also want to cry when i watched on TV three weeks ago.
POKOKna mantabs ni film ne
you guys are rock!!! i have nothing more to reward you with such a delightful present, a grate contribution to world media and cinematography such a wonderful and brilliant master piece.. may you continue to give us sleepless nights on wondering things with your creation... no more scheme mishil.. can anybody accord bidam a good rest for love...
Hi, this is a wonderful article. Glad to know something about the real Mishil. I hope she was not cruel in real life.
Anyway, I feel in love with Le Yo Won in this drama. Her beauty grows in me and it matures as her character in the drama grows. And I think she was remarkable. It's my first time to see her & I just love watching her, one reason I could finish this long drama. I am glad she was the one playing Deokman, she has the perfect charm, look & talent for it.
BTW, do you know the address of her agency? And could you share it with me, please? I've been wanting to send her a card but I don't know where to send it. Thank you very much.
My email add, ilovedearcamille@gmail.com
Sorry, I mean fell in love with Lee Yo Won.
thank you so much for coming up with this. i am so addicted to queen seon deok. i didnt know that this is a true story (almost i think). i did my own research about the 3 ancient kingdoms and i was so surprised to know that they really do exist in ancient korean history!
The Drama is artistically good but I wish this was made accurately as possible to real history. This must not an entertainment only but serves as educational as well.
Thank you! I am now watching her other historical drama, Daemang. She's indeed a great actress.

he was offering his hand to deokman
(before dying)
but deokman didnt take it :(
and bidam's last words were.."deokman..deokman"
really touching...
kim nam gil is my favorite actor in korea he is kind, gentle, extra ordinary sweet, energaticand he always happy that's why kim nam gil is the best for me.
i am her number one fan in the philippine..
advance happy birthday kim nam gil
I don't think Bidam will be the perfect partner for SeonDok,hmm..
hi. i'm from the phils. i started to watch queen seon deok when gma7 started to show it on tv. my family (my husband, my mom, my dad, our housemaid) is addicted to it. i was then fortunate to hold a dvd and watched in advance up to episode 43. yet, my family is still watching it's on going series in gma7. its really fantastic. i love history. i love the author's way of writing it. thanks for this info. i am now assured that indeed im watching a great tv series!!!
huhuhu...
someone posted on my wall that in Episode 50, Lady Mishil was died..huhu..
how sad!!
I like Lady Mishil..
I like the way she acts..
heehee...
Also Bi Dam..
I love him.. he is more handsome than yushin..
heehee..
I like him very much!
Lee yo won...
Lee yo won...
Lee yo won...
*Do you have any pictures of Lee yo won's daughter as of this year?*
I agree with Jaila. Seondeok was a great woman, she deserved a better man. I heard she was married in real life, hope her husband was not like Bidam at all.
BTW, I love Deokman & I wish she was partnered with Alcheon, he's cute & I love his character, very peaceful & righteous guy. Deokman could live with him peacefully because he had no other intentions but just to serve her. Yushin had the Kayans & Bidam had Mishil's blood & faction, it's so complicated to love & live with them.
Anyway, this is really a great drama. I've watched the whole series several times already, but I still can't get over it. I am really addicted to Queen Seondeok.
aaah..
I'm excited for that..
haha..
as of now, i'm still at episode 22..huhuhu..
but i will continue watching for the next episodes..
did yushin and seondeok marry each other?
thank you...???
i've watched all the episodes, i got hooked to it that i even made absences just to finish it. i am qsd fan here in the philippines, and it's really a great drama movie.everything fits, the actors give justice to their roles specially that of bidam. I really am fascinated with this particular character and I was hopeful that he and deokman would have a happy ending. i cried and was saddened with their love story, so tragic. in the end I had this hope that their story would end differently in accordance to my contentment. comparing the look of kim nam gil in real life and his role as bidam is like looking at the real orlando bloom as he portrayed legolas in the movie lord of the rings- so different. i hope gma 7 would invite the former here in our country along with other casts.I am so captivated by bidam, he is handsome, gorgeous, and so manly.thanks for this account that i had the chance to share my insights.
4 times!!! That's too many. Is there a place or site where we can read about her husbands? I want to know what kind of people they were. Yes, I've searched Lee Yo Won and learned that she's happily married and has one daughter. I am happy for her. She seems to be a nice person.
aaah..
who was princess chunmyung's husband?
when i watched one episode, I saw a man..
was that man Deokman's nephew?
the man who got marry with Bojong's daughter...
thank you..
Thank you so much. I've checked them out but there were not much info about them except that they were her husbands & rule in place of her in times of war. I find it a little complicated because she was also married to Cheonmyung's husband. I wonder if these marriages were because of love or were just for political purposes. I wish there was enough authentic records about Seondeok's life & her reign as the queen of Silla. Because of how she was portrayed in the drama I came to like her a lot.
where did you find that bidam really exist in korean history. i need to know. i really feel bad about his death and how tragic was his love story with the queen
thanks for the link u gave me though i really don't understand the language.would you know if the actor bidam is already married in real life?
i really like this korean drama...
queen seon deok is really beautiful.
I love it!!!amazing story, the cast was great, everything was awesome!...I got hooked with this drama after I've watched the first episode aired via GMA7 during my holiday in the Phillipiines. back here in New Zealand, I followed the story via veoh and youtube (thanks to those who uploaded it)...At first, all i want is to watch her became queen...but at the end, I was shocked because I can't stop my tears pouring and I can't explain it...
i just also finished watching queen seon deok,it's a nice korean drama, and i was big fan of Ju Mong and Jewel in the Palace all in all it was really great.
its airing right now here in the philippines thru kapuso GMA7 and i am watching it again, waiting for Kim Nam Gil to appear.i really like him as bidam,he so cool, childish, his eyes and naughty smile,he has a unique and complicated character, hes funny, smart and charming. And especially love deokman, yushin, alcheon, wolya and chunchu. And all the character you did the job well.
yes!i love deokman, and i wish too she was partnered with alcheon, hes so cute i love him very much.
i really dream to visit korea after watching queen seon deok i want to see the cast especilly bidam and alcheon.
Or good idea for cast to visit to philippines, you have many fans here and i'm one of them.
i've watched the whole series several times already, but is still can't get over it.i'am really addicted to Queen seon deok,i was crying on every episode cause the story was really really great, two thumbs up for this drama/series.

hi just visit this site coz i really want to know the story of queen seondeok and to tell you frankly im addicted already to kim nam gil aka bidam...wow he's such a great actor and a handsome one soooo cute and smart..love him so much.
thanks for this nice info and pics..i got hooked on this korean drama when i first saw it on our local tv GMA7 since then i cant wait to see its next episode...first i looked at it on youtube and fortunately downloads were available but then its really not complete you'll have to wait for the next uploads of episodes...
wow i got eyebugs watching it
i've watched it for 5 days with only 4 hours of sleep a day...even extended to wee hours the next day
i wanna congratulate all the people behind this drama series for coming up with a great story and great casting more particularly kim nam gil..actually he's the one who liven up the story, his portrayal of bidam is so great that i got hooked on it and cried so hard on its last episode..i really felt his love for deokman...and how i wish i was queen seondeok..huhuhu!
right now im watching it again on our local tv and waiting for bidam to appear, aside from watching my dvd's everyday hahahaha...
i just want to know if bidam was really a character on the life story of QSD rather i mean in korean history or was just added to make the story compelling and to have an ingeneous and tragic ending...nonetheless bidam characterization has really caught my attention and kim gave justice to the said role, again he's such a great actor he can be funny and serious at the same time.
thanks and hope to see him and lee yeo won again in this kind of drama/series...and HOPE AND PRAY THAT THE CAST OF QSD WILL VISIT OUR COUNTRY THE PHILIPPINES ESPECIALLY KIM NAM GIL...THANKS AND MORE POWER TO YOU FEBRIEDETHAN
truly a wonderful story.....i finished watching it but still I can't get over the ending. I love the twist in the story and I am more than amazed to read here that it was a true to life story. Thanks to you for putting up such a webpage like this it is very interesting and got curious to visit Korea. :)
I watched the last few episodes again......can't get over it! I have read in one blog that the drama was supposed to be up to episode 50 only but because of the good feedback on deokman and bidam they added 12 episodes. I also think that Bidam was not really specifically mentioned in wiki- of course this is a personal love story of the queen and who can she trust at that time......and because bidam was the enemy of the state maybe it was not elaborated that the queen and him have a real relationship for the queen's reputation. But I really believe that they do have that love story for real back then. I just felt so sad for the dream that deokman had for she doesn't have anyone she must hug herself and tell herself to endure it til the end. Too sad! I saw on one site that Yushin is really counted as a hero in Korea for he had his own statue and the tomb of QSD is the one in the movie. Awesome..............can't stop but admire this QCD drama!!!!! I am just wondering why QSD told Yushin to runaway then, and Yushin seeing the ring on her finger cried!!!! Is it because up til the end he cannot give what Deokman wishes from him???? Too sad but true! I have read also that in history Alcheon was suppose to be chosen as King but he refuse and carry on the plan of QSD and with Yushin they supporte Chunchu to be King!!!! Haaaaaayyyyyyyyyy.............. I will surely be in Korea one of these days!!!!
Hi! Where can I find about Bidam War? I wanted to believe that Bidam's story is real.......it may not be written all over the wiki- but of course before they wrote the script of the movie they made some research right and the historians then would have written something about it. It was so amazing!!!! QSD exudes all my expectations!
sociopolitical-love story with balanced wit, action&drama depicted by such characters.. cant help but to have sleepness nights just to see the finale & alcheon of course haha! nice to hear from you guys, at least it's not only me who got this crazy! =)
Deokman!!
I love you!!
I may be quite chauvanistic for I was at first unintrested with the series. but when watched it. it definitely is intresting. especially the politacal ploys equipped by the characters. actually, I as I started to watch the series, i incidentally just began reading the book of WAR by Robert Greene. the tactics of human politics are nicely delivered here. especially on how to deal with what they call a diamond plan...
queen seon deok is a very nice drama, but i realy realy hate the ending of this story!!!ger....
hi, i just happened to came upon ur site, im still watching QSD and i felt that when i finished watching the whole series, il missed it so much. the story grows on me without me knowing it. Im sorry for all the people who liked Bidam, but in my opinion, Yushin deserved more to be with Deokman more than anyone else..He really showed his love through out the whole series and it really saddens me when i read that Deokman will eventually dies and their lovestory were not given a chance to bloom into something real..maybe it was better for deokman to run away with Yushin when they were given the chance to do so but then again we cannot re-write history (but how i wished that the production gave the series a better twist like letting them have their good happy ending)
wah..hi there!im from philippines and i'm one of the addicts in queen seon duk here in our country... I just can't believe that Bi dam would played the important role in the series...im gonna buy dvd for this.. thanks for the review :))
helu again,
can u give me related korean novela with QSD,that were released in asia already..
thats sad they were not really romantically connected in history, u broke my heart! waaa!!
thnx though
hahaha!
hello!!
I'm back!
heehee..
after 2 weeks.....
I like the scene where Deokman tried to kill herself by using her seoyopdo....
heehee...
I love them very much...
heehee...
Wow, a great write-up on this Korean drama. Very popular in Singapore too. A must-watch!
hello, I am sure I am not th eonly one who has been enduring sleepless nights watching the Queen Seon deok series. I have finished it, after watching it twice, would you blieve? I just felt so bad because of the love story of QSD with Yushin and bidam. especially bidam who is so lovable adn adorable. Kim Nam-gil played his role very well, am sure, after QSD his life will never be the same again. When is he coming to the Philippines, hope he could one of these days, at least before he takes to his military training. His fans are waiting for him here, including me. hehehe. Suggestion, kindly tell him to keep his Bidam look, the long hair with a pony tail. or with a half-pony. LIke the one he sported in the final episode before he died. He made me cry many times. huhuhuhu!
i very love this korean drama!! nice one! i like doc man! oh no lee yo won!
Hello to everybody!!!
I must say that I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! I never watch movies that have many episodes because i get bored... but this Korean drama was totally different from the movies i have seen... I'm from Romania and the drama is at the 34th episode and i always watch it like i'm hypnotized :P the actors and actresses are great...
P.S. Greetings from Romania & hope the best to you all!!!!!
hi again!
im nearing the end of the series and i still cant get over over how good this series is, in fact for me its the best so far. But what i cant understand is the fascination of fans to Bidam, when Yushin should be adored much since he was so faithful to Deokman, he was the one who stuck with her through everything..
i really hoped that hancinema would again come out of historical drama in the future that is as good as QSD its so interesting and fascinating to learn Korean history
Hey guys,
this is what the real Queen Seon Deok looks like: http://imgur.com/W86w3.jpg
Anyways, If you enjoyed QSD as much as I did, here are some more Korean period dramas you might enjoy as well:
Dae Joyoung
The Great King Sejong
The Iron Empress
Sayuksin (Joint project between North & South Korea)
:)
hi...i really love queen sheon deok..i love kim yusin is he married?
...thank you so much for bringing this to us...
i am so grateful and i really really love the story.
it is really so amazing.
I already watched the full episode of QSD and it was fascinating and somehow it made me cry to the last part of QSD. My tears wont stop. There's a lot secret bout them...
I love the character of Bidam but I cant blame Bidam for not trusting QSD.
Wish they could be together but thats the life of a Queen cant reach his hand till the end...
Im just wondering bout Alcheon... I think deep inside of Alcheon he has a feeling for deokman.
Coz its impossible for him not to fall for Deokman...
As for Bidam. I really like how he portrait Bidam. Hope u will have same character as Bidam.
Hi everyone! I'm from Philippines! I've finished watching QSD but kept on watching it over and over again!! It's very addicting. I was just saddened by the ending. I hoped that Yushin and QSD ended up with each other. I admire men of those times where they really have that high respect for women. And also Yushin's love/devotion to QSD. I really admire his strength and commitment to the QSD.
I'm currently watching "Sad Love Song". It's the story of the 3rd daughter and the youngest sister of QSD and Cheonmyeong. She is Princess Sohwa who fell in love to a common people who later became the King of Baekje.
Sorry for the mistake. The title is "Song of Love" =)
Hi febriedethan..yeah..I bought it here in Manila and I was surprised to know that they have a younger sibling. She was disowned by the King because she feel in love with a lower class not knowing that the man was also a son of a King. The story is very much shorter than QSD since it only has 1 DVD unlike the QSD which comes in 3.I am waiting if they will mention QSD here.
helu everyone!
just dropped by to ask a quick question, i was bewildered in the last chapters of the series, when i learned that QSD really fell in loved with Bi dam, when did it happened and she was even willing to marry him, augh! Is that because of the cliche, keep your friends close but even closer is your enemies, was that it, why she agreed to marry Bi dam? Did she fell out of love with Yushin?? I think ive got atleast 3chapters more to go and im already sad..
Hello,
back again... i'm at the 37th episode... it's realy incredible how the action is devolving, i never thought that the Lord Mun-no will die :( Yu-shin got married... sad, so sad for Deokman...
Thanks!!! XOXO from me :P
QSD fell in love with Bidam because he is the only one who made QSD felt like a woman.Unlike her relationship with Yushin which is always a ruler-subject relationship. Her trust for Yushin never changed until the end. It's just that there is something that Bidam can give QSD that Yushin can't give to her.
I am also watching QSD and like everybody else who have watched the korean drama I fell in love with it, too, primarily because of the love of Yu Shin for QSD as depicted in the story. In the storyline, QSD also has feelings for Yu Shin but is feeling guilty of showing her love because of the death of her twin sister Cheon Myeong who loves Yu Shin. And Yu Shin chose to marry the grand daughter of Mishil because QSD can't reciprocate his love for her. As I read your comments, i felt sad that there was no love relationship that evolved between QSD and Yu Shin in Korean history. Maybe, the directors just added that factor of "love" to draw audiences' attention to watch the drama even more because people are interested on love stories. Though love stories are part and parcel of a movie, we can't change the history of QSD. I love Lee Yo Won since Fashion 70's, Surgeon Bong Dal Hee and Cruel Love and Eom Tae Woong. They portrayed QSD and Yu Shin at their best that's why people misconstrued that a love relationship developed between QSD and Yu Shin. It's a Director's cut.
@febriedethan
I googled and found that ancient portrait by sheer luck, so it would also be great for your visitors, especially from outside Korea, to see what the real QSD would have looked like.
Cheers!
@febrie
Thankz for welcoming me here
@Yan
thankz for sharing the "Song of Love" gotta have it and watch it.
One thing caught me was the scene about the ring. I realized if they were in the room alone then QSD will cry or they'll never let go of each other but the director chose to have a scene on the garden or outside of it.
BTW just like to ask if u know some kind of historical drama of Korea just like QSD
i love to learn their history even if its fiction or epic.
Thankz
hi, there!
just want to comment on what yan had said, its not that Bi Dam could make her feel like a woman, there are many scenes that Yushin showed her love to her. And note that on the scenes that Princess Cheonmyong died and Deokman went back to Sorabeol, she was the one who requested Yushin not to treat her as a woman but as a soon to be queen. So Yushin seeing that there are no way that they could be together not unless for the sake of their Great Endeavor to unified the 3 Kingdom of Silla, treated as she wished. They had the subject-ruler relationship because Yushin had no choice on that matter..(this is only my thoughts feel freely to obejct, hehehe!)
But as other would say it, there were really no lovestory between Yushin & QSD, it was only a director's cut designed to attract more viewers..
thanks for having this site so that fanatics could interact with each other.
Thanks Vhenn, their lovestory is really complicated. Yushin really has no choice . I remembered their conversation after she was acknowledged as leader of their group including the Wolya and Seolji, Deokman told to her self that she will just keep Yushin in her heart. I think because she knows that after she will be declared a princess, nobody can touch her or even call her by her name. Another is a line she mentioned in a later episode is that she loses her identity when she was crowned because people will just call her "Your Highness" instead of her name.
I think what makes Bidam different from Yushin is that Bidam is not afraid to call Deokman by her name, to touch her or to hug her. This I think is what made Deokman fell for Bidam. Unlike Yushin, who grew as a Hwarang and was taught how to treat and respect higher people even Deokman.
helloooo :P
I'm back. WOW, i have found some interesting videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PITgc1qz7QQ&feature http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4t4L0peifx4&feature
the video with Bi-dam has really impressed me... why they had to die?????? i don't like SAD endings... i want a HAPPY ENDING!!! The drama must have end when Mi-shil died... hehe... so it could be a happy ending :P
i'm currently at 40th episode
Thanks!

may i know why did mishil have so many husband? is that even allowed at those time?
acc from wikipedia, (nt sure if it can be trusted) it mentioned that kim yu shin and princess deokman will get married, is that for real?
and also for princess cheomyong ( sister of deokman), she married to someone and had kim chun chu, in that case, why in the show she was supposed to marry kim yu shin again? they can remarried?
omg.. i love this site!
I like it,thats why i want to share to my friends, how will going to d0?Pls.Tnx in advance.
i really love queen seon deok specially lee yo won.......
even though the end of the story is so sad. i really didn't expect that it was the end... i thought yu shin and deokman will be together......
Hi Guys! I'm back! just finished watching "My Sassy Girl ChoonYang" bec. Yushin is also there! =)
i love the story..but i hate the ending!
they could have ended it during happier times..huhu
but i really love it..i think the characters were properly portrayed by the actors..good job..(",)
The best story and portrayed by best actors especially Bidam who play a unique character and made the story very interesting. I can't forget their facial expression so amazing. Best historical and drama ever.
All Cast and characters are great and best. ;D
Hi,
febriedethan, i want to ask you about Sohwa, it is true that she will die? how? OMG, the action is so interestinggggggg :P
Mi-shil is like a SNAKE hehehe
Thanks!! Have a nice day!
pls dont end the queen seon deok
Hi Febrie, I saw a music video in Youtube showing some scenes in QSD..but aside from that, there are also scenes from a movie in a modern setting starring LYW and KNG (QSD and Bidam). Is it possible to have a movie where QSD and Bidam was reincarnated??? hahaha
I really like this drama so captivating! I love Deokman (Lee Yo Won) especially. And for the guys I am falling for Alcheon, Chunchu & Wolya... oh they're so cute!
im so glad to be back after a month.. love watching it over & over again hehehe.. by the way, how is hwarang imjong related to lord yongchun?
I've watched the series it was great. I saw a movie that was shown on local tv years back that has numerous similar scenes with the series. Onescen e I can clearly remember, is that the ending on the movie and on the series is EXACTLY the same, where the lady on seon deoks dream was revealed. I didn't bother to know the title of that movie then coz it was in english sub, but now I'm dying to see that film again.
It's really nice....I can't help myself not to watch the show..
You did a very good presentation of this drama. It's the 4th korean drama that I watch on TV. The first drama aired nationally was the Jewell in the palace, and soon after Yi-San that made a good audience. So, romanian television continue the transmision with Damo and now, Queen Seon Deok.
I was so impressed by korean values and traditions. I took notice on culinar tradition watching Dae Jang Geum and I've learned alot about korean traditional clothing and customs. I must say I was a little ignorant about it.
Queen Seon Deok is an intresting drama with good characters. I must say that I didn't like it from the start, the beginning part was a little too confusing and boring (at least for me), but slowly get my atention. Bi-dam's character was the key succes factor of this drama.
One think that I didn't understand was Mi-Shil's position. She was married twice so she was polyandry? or she was just a concubine for several men, including the two kings. Anyway, Go Hyun Jung is a great actress that made Mi-shil character become outstanding. Hope to see her in another movies.
sorry for my inherent mistakes, I'm much better in french and german :)
ILOVE QSD!..
ILOVE QSD!..
hi everyone! i've been reading your comments and reviews here about QSD for quite a while already...i just finished watching the series. i'm a Yushin-Deokman fan here :)
the ending was sad, not because Bidam died and QSD died also...but because Yushin and Deokman were not given the chance to be happy together..it really frustrates me and gives me sleepless nights thinking what if there was a SUPER BIG TWIST in the story, or what if the writer had written an alternate ending for the story...an ending that would pacify me, huhuhuhuhu!!!
Hi everybody!
From today it starts the FINAL COUNTDOWN: 12 episodes to see... and I don't want it to end :(
febriedethan, please tell me something that can make me happy :P
Thanks a lot!
Buna Andreea!
Hi, nice movie review, I really like Queen Seon Dok a lot... including the transformation of the lead characters... I really love it when Deokman and Yushin fights in the story and they are adorable when they are expressing in a way the supressed love.and I really found it one of the most touching scene in the story..the attention they give to the scene where princess deokman was lamenting Yushin's marriage to Mishil's granddaughter was short but you can feel it...I really like it too when Yushin said Silla is the only thing that connects him with Her Majesty... that as man he cannot separate what his heart said from what he must do... so he continued to be at deokman's as a loyal subordinates suppressing his love... nice to see something like this at least I can express everything the I realized in the story.... I learned to pay attention about the word devotion, and how to endure pain just to reach your goal... I love lee yo won...
I have a question will 2nd marriage at that time would mean a concubine... if you remember at the later part Jukbang asked Queen Seon dok to consider tying the knots with Yushin Rang, and we all know that Yushin was already married to meshil's granddaughter?what will be the queen's status if she married Yushin? and you think she did not consider Yushin anymore to again protect the throne considering she may not conceive at that time and Yushin's son has meshil's blood? am I making it complicated? just your opinion please.... yes you're right looking at the area of love story, Queen Seon dok is really sad,coz as ordinary Human may have a hard time not to follow our hearts..but looking at what Silla achieved, indeed very succesful but you see at the back of the success is the sadness of one's unfulfilled love....
i love qsd.. i just started watching it..but im so so curious.. i love bidam-deokman.. you rock! :) hmmm, do qsd have a strong feelings for bidam? if yes, in what chapters? haha.. thanks febrie.. i also love your summary and review.. keep updating us on QSD happenings.. :)
I'm a Yushin-QSD fan too!! I'm having difficulty looking for old movies that Uhm Tae Woong and LYW made. =(
I encountered this site where they tell the stories of famous hwarangs including Yushin.Enjoy reading!
www.hwarangdo.com/hwarang.htm#yusin
lady mishil was a great actress and the way she act was very unique and i hope she can visit here in philippines
Hehehe maybe because I like it a lot, oh yes I remember that scene with Bidam, but at the latter part before the queen died, she was with Yushin, well my dvd has a not so clear translation in that part because it was not very clear to me what was the queen was saying but, but it was like she was talking about running away, was it she was just recalling the time when she and yushin almost run away? and was there also a mention of "the first man who hugged me"? so at the end she was no longer in love with Yushin? but well overall I love their devotion for one another.
But you know watching QSD again I found out the yushin is a first degree cousin of Deokman because Yushin's mother is the king's (deokman's father) sister. the father of chunchu was king jinji who was the uncle of the King of Silla. So that's how they were in the palace it was like really limiting it to the family to maintain the sacred bone line...
I really like this part sorry cant forget which episode, the one when Yushin Rang knelt before Mishil offering his allegiance to their group and behind him was deokman, and mishil while telling yushing to marry someone from their clan was looking at deokman sarcastically... great great acting....
Nice meeting you miss what is your first name and how can I address you.. This is really nice... talking about the film.. thanks
my Correction I mean the father of Chunchu is the son of dethroned king jinji who was a brother of the King's father (deokman's grandfather)
am I right looks like inspite of the success in Silla, Queen deokman died very sad coz she was not emotionally fulfilled, and she lost all her beloved... very touching story...... made me feel like if I found a with the kind of yushin rang I will not let him go..hahahah. gee when will I get over this Queen Seon Dok....I will watch it again before I sleep this evening....
Hi it's me again hahaha I never run out of words to say.. About Yushin and Deokman's love for each other, it was very evident in some scenes from the time that deokman's real identity was not yet revealed, when Yushin was looking for her in the mud right after the war, I guess at the time he was falling in love with deokman already.... too many suppressed emotions but they are good actors and actress, you will not require a love scene to feel the love... deokman's reaction when Yushin Told bidam to rescue deokman and he will be left at the palace, I guess this was during the coup.. hahaha too many stories to tell.... I love it when deokman call him "Yushing rang", made me imitate her and made me add "rang" to my dog's name
hi febrie! thanks for those suggestions, seems like we were having the same ideas regarding lord yong chun & hwarang imjong's relationship hehe.. its nice to have this site to brainstorm such thoughts haha!
febrie about that running away, what was Yushin's response, is it awkward for him? and deokman died right away... honestly I havent watched that whole thing, will do it this weekend coz there are some situations in the story that I never learned what happened like, did the characters found out about Munno's death? nice talking to you to Febrie I'm from philippines...and I wished to get dvd copy of QSD with better translation
Hi febrie I started my hub already but no story yet still trying to familiarize myself here... please just assist me thanks.. more trivia please hahaha
nice......its....a inspiration giving ,,,movie...nice.
This is a really great article. i love watching Queen Seon Deok. I love bi dam the 1st time i saw him..
Well, thank you for the information. I love this. actually im addicted to it. I keep on searching for more information. the story is great! im really glad that queen seon deok is here in the philippines and im gonna buy dvd of this. i want to watch it again and again...
HI febrie this is cel, hihihi, I am still watching QSD and I am on Episode 42, the translation in some are quite disappointing, it has no essense at all, very different from the one I saw in video at youtube... If I am going to buy a QSD DVD what version should I get?
Question Febrie, why was Yushin Embarassed? would it be a no? or simply because at that situation, it was impossible to run away? hehehe am i making it complicated again?
hope you'll visit me in hub too, Only one article yet about lee yo won...
hi febrie question not yet related to QSD, please tell me what the score of my blogs means?
About Bidam, his skin color was made darker in QSD but still he is goodlooking...even my 70 year old Aunt noticed it.
Hello!
How r u all? I have a couple of questions: why Bi-dam is punishing Yu-shin telling that he is still in the Gaya Resistance? Wol-ya wants Yu-shin to the king... i guess... right? Yu-shin is the one who kills Bi-dam in the final episode? :P
I begun to dislike Bi-dam because he is not like Yu-shin, he was indeed loyal to the Queen from beginning to end...
Thanks! XoXo
Hi febri thanks for following... I am in the 46 episiodes now and I again I was thrilled with the Queen's reaction when Yushin Rang decide to stay so that she and the rest can leave the palace freely... I guess the Princess had forgotten that she was a princess because she was shouting yushin's name and almost freak out.. hahaha again.... Yushin-QSD love
by the way I love the songs they played in QSD the one playing during yushin's wedding, i guess it was the same song when the princess escaped from the palace and yushin was left to continue the fight...would you know the title... is there a QSD soundtrack?
I want to know when Deok-man realizes that she's in love with Bi-dam... I'm at the 53th episode and until now I don't see this LOVE between them...
I miss Mi-shil HAHA :)) she was the SALT and PEPPER of the movie...
Thanks! Have a nice day!
sorry, didn't saw* the LOVE, LOVE
oh sad I thought she just liked Bidam but still the true love is Yushin hihihi
question, the Bidam-QSD love, i wonder if their treatment for each other were obvious in the latter part of the drama, I mean, Yushin-QSD' devotion is obvious all throughout, in fact even after Bidam's proposal, jukbang is suggesting still a conjugal ties between Yushin and QSD? and reading to some sites, it looks like the queen is considering to choose Bidam? am really confuse, hahaha funny that I want to hear it from you Febrie, when I can watch it again and again...
does the queen really said it was Bidam that she truly love...? making it complicated again hihihi
Hi again!
In the 54th episode Bi-dam hugged the Queen and after that she told Bi-dam that she would not let him possess her, why's that? Did she realized that she had feelings for him? OMG, it's driving me crazy this... why doesn't he tells her that he's IN LOVE... eeeh... too bad for them...
Yu-sin had a secret mission from the Queen but he is accused of spying, what happens in the end?
Thanks febrie! u rule ;)
Febrie kinda confusing hahahah... if they have the kind of secret vow, the did it lead to Bidam's rebellion? or is it because Bidam's character has a dark side? wow I thought it was QSD- yushin Till the end.... or did the queen realized it, when she died and married to Bidam, most probably Bidam will never leave silla but will take the throne? but honest looking back on how Bidam rescued the princess in many occassions, it was really sad that they had to end it that way.... why Bidam can't stay as good and he is and not dead... hihihi.
Anyway QSD's life is really sad coz all her love ones died before her eyes, in real life that is really sad....
another question, remember that ring the QSD wore when she died, did it have a significant?
Febrie I have another comment, I've notice in few last episodes, as if everybody was suggesting conjugal ties, and I think it was open, jukbang and the wolya, suggested it to yushin and of course Mishil Group want it to be Bidam... amazing culture... looks like they consider marriage for greater influence.... at least I guess the real marriage in the story was the one that never happened, before Princess chumeong died, when Yushin and Deokman were ready to leave together away from Silla.... at least no secret vows, etc... but it did not happen or not meant to be.. what will happen to Silla without Yushin and Mishil will probably rule forever...
Now I realized why the story is really sad, when it comes to Bidam's part, and sad too that Yushin is out of the picture hahahah... if they will make a sequel to it, something like reincarnation, I will be very sad because it cant be yushin anymore hihihi.. thanks Febrie for your answering our comments no matter how crazy they were..
,this drama is very awesome, and it makes me cry, especiaaly when bidam dies,
,this is a great show,
hi all!
its been a while since i last dropped by and there were so many comments posted, i conrgatulate febrie for having this hubpage its truly a forum for us QSD-addicts hehehe!
question reagrding mai, phil: what chapter exactly you said that when Yushin saw QSD's ring, he cried, i havent noticed it and i want to go back on that scene?
comments were really divided as i read the posted comments, some are are really into Yushin-Deokman lovetem, like me heheh, im such an avid fan of them two and the others are in-loved with Bidam-Deokman loveteam, nevertheless, we are really attracted by the same korean epic-lovestory.
kudos to the filmmaker! its worth, waiting for another like one of this..
Hello Febrie and u all!
I wish that the actors/actresses of the Korean drama to read our comments to see that we are devided in 2: Deokman/Yu-sin and Deokman/Bi-dam... haha... and they in their turn to say something. Maybe one day they will answer us. (Do they know English????)
I finally begin to understand why the story is so sad. Bi-dam even though he was mischievous so many times he would have lived happily ever after with the Queen. Bi-dam found at Deokman the love he never had, the love he needed so desperately...
Thanks! Have a nice day! ;)
hi febrie! and to all who are here. im so glad to stumble upon this hubpage. im also very much a qsd fan. you got a good review of the movie and am fascinated with the comments. im from the Philippines.
it was really a sad ending. i cried at ep 62,when bidam finally met his death. they were really meant to be dead..i guess the moral of the story is that we make our own destiny. i figured that even if munno predicted bidam and deokman are meant to be together, their decisions and actions negatively affected what is supposed to be a long lasting legacy for both of them.
deokman loved bidam to the point of being ready to abdicate the throne and pass it on to chunchu her nephew just so she could spend the rest of her days with bidam. bidam, however, has a very complicated character (kudos to KNG for portraying the role so convincingly and effectively). Chunchu and even yushin even recognized that both are in love with each other. but as chunchu said ..."would others let them be?...history has no place for a man driven by his devotion..." which is what exactly happened to bidam.
if the yushin-deokman love angle was complicated, the bidam-deokman's was highly politicized. well, i guess in the world of politics, this is true even during these days. for someone like bidam, who experienced loneliness and rejection at a very young age, you can understand where his insecurities are coming. first with munno, then mishil. even deokman admitted she was trying to push him away because she fears that her feelings for bidam "...does not befit a ruler."
bidam could have done something to regain the throne after his mother mishil died knowing full well he is a direct sacred bone lineage being a son of king jinji but he did not do it. he was a man torn between two most important women in his life: his mother and deokman. after deokman regained the throne, he chose to be a loyal follower. same as yushin. but there was always a question of confidence between the two of them: who does deokman trust most? yushin or bidam? it was obvious deokman wants both of them on her side. but deokman finally realized it was bidam who fulfilled her longing to feel and be a woman. something yushin wasn't able to give her. that was the start of their love story. i kinda liked that part where they made their pact in front of mishil's shrine. of all places, ironic, isn't it?
i wanted to wring yeomjeong's neck for scheming behind bidam's back. he was a rat and trying hard to be a king-maker...he wanted to do that with chunchu (in the earlier episodes) but decided he was a moppet so later he found bidam more suitable for the kingship. of course, chunchu was not as feeble as he initially projected, he was actually scheming too. i think chunchu also found bidam a big threat that's why he attempted to plant seeds of doubt on bidam and deokman. sadly, negativity ruled and bidam succumbed to it because of his trust issues.
yeomjeong was right: "fear is your greatest enemy." =(
aku ingin sekali the great queen seondeok di tayangkan lagi ok.ok.ok.ok.ok.ok.ok.ok.ok.ok.ok.ok.karena dramanya sangat bagus sekali ..........................................................................................
I finished the film and I understand very well now... Sad for Yushin and QSD, but if we looked back, Deokman was the reason why Yushin has a firm decision when it comes to Gaya. Remember that he risk life to negotiate with Gaya movement, and they were the biggest support of Deokman until she was recognized as princess...even when heprotected gaya in the latter part, it is still for Deokman's protection coz he said it, he can't take it that Gaya will forever hold resentment to QSD. even if he said earlier the his feelings will end even before Deokman became a princess, their devotion for each other was obvious. Deokman sa no doubt first in love with yushin, she cried when he got married, she was hysterical when yushin was left in the palace during the Mishil's martial law. Even in the latter part, before she chose Bidan, he still asked Yushin What about me?... and the turning point is Bidan is more courageous to make her feel like a woman...but what I like about the story is the openness of feeling, remember that scene when Yushin Congratulate Deokman, he admitted he was disheartened but he admitted too that he can't give her the solace or comfort that Bidam can give her....I mean the fruit of all his sacrifices for QSD is the inability to give her love and support...
About Bidan-QSD, they had a good beginning... Bidan was the witness of her devotion to Yushin, and she even cried to him when Yushin got married....but it was a love to really cry about....and Bidam;s follower took advantage of his weakness and that is his love for QSD... though I am Yushin-Deokman fan, the fate of Deokman Bidam love story really saddened me.... hope to see them really again in a different role.
about the ending, the ending is making me saddest.... Deokman;s dream and what she was saying in that part...but really nice film, to affect us like this too much ohh... can we make another hub like, if you are the writer what ending would like to write for QSD?
who is Kim Mun Hee? anyway I will try Febri... thanks
Febrie how can I add this Great Queen Seon dok of yours to my hub on Ending of Queen Seon Dok?
http://hubpages.com/hub/If-you-were-given-the-priv
Febrie here it is.
Febrie if they will make a sequel in the story I think that would be great... but of course people will miss the Bidam and QSD character..... please visit my hub and tell me if I did the right thing....
Febrie yahoo sent me a message that you left a comment in my hub but I've seen none? what went wrong...?
Febrie I cant understand too why your comment did went through...I checked on it there was none
hi febrie! thanks for replying =) i hope you could help me too. somebody asked me in another qsd blog page about the nuptial rings of kings and queens in shilla (or probably in the whole of korea). you might know...i just need the link...hope you could accommodate if you have time. thanks so much!
more power
Hello! I'm back... miss me? hehehe
I have seen today the 59th episode and i don't like what is happening... why Bi-dam doesn't listen the Queen and returns to Sorabol??? UHHHHH... u stupid :P he could have been saved...
Anyway, the 57 & 58 were the best!!!!!!! LOVED ITTTT SOOOO MUCHHHHH!!!!
I guess that i will cry like a baby when Bi-dam will die... uuuuuuh... so sad 4 me :(
Thanks Febrie!!! love ya! :P
Ok I am beginning to accept that it was not Yushin-QSD, but Bidam -QSD hehehe.
febrie, I've watched lot of QSD Bloopers at youtube... I love watching the three of them, and how they also laughed at their mistakes... Remember the scene at the mountain right after Bidam rescued Deokman, and Yushin arrived when everybody was already defeated by Bidam?, remember that in exchanged for a chicken again, Yushin gave his leather armour to Bidam, in the blooper, Yushin had a hard time taking off that armour and and they were all laughing especially LYW..you will enjoy watching it for sure..
great story. ang talino nya!
bakit walang queen seon deok pagka friday....
nakakainis naman
i love watching queen seon deok.. also i love the way Kim Nam Gil portray himself as Bidam.. i love the whole story. Congratulations to all the Cast and crew for having such an Excellent Drama series
the last two posters are Filipino, Alvin said, QSD is intelligent while Mich was asking why there is no QSD every friday, and she is upset.
QSD is shown here in Philippines every night, but it has been until thursday only two weeks..
my greetings to all!
i agree with febrie, hanski you gave a very good review on QSD. and yes i found out that they were referring to the last scene, before she died. I finally got the courage to watch the last 3chapters the other day(i kept on hesitating to see the end hoping and praying that the ending for me will be different, but i guess i need to wake up in reality that their ending was a sad one, huhuhu), although the translations really sucked, i managed to understand its gist. what more can i say, the story in whole is quite riveting and really sad. Personally, i think QSD subconciously was emulating Lady Mishil but she was trying to be a better version of her. she wants to do good by her country & her people which Mishil cant do bec. bec she was consumed by her ulterior motive to be the queen.
i think the most heart-breaking part for me is not the QSD saw Bidam died right in front of her eyes and she cant do anything about it, it was the part when she hugged the younger deokman, admonishing herself to be strong bcoz she knew what will come ahead and that she will be destined to a lonely queen.
its good to hear though that the love story that was not meant to be between Yushin-Deokman came true with Chunchu and Yushin's sister...
Febrie, I have a question: in the final episode the Queen or Bi-dam discover that all was a misunderstood? or the real true?
Thanks!
Febrie, I am beginning to like Korean language too, even the way the deliver it.... I jsut don't know if they call it intonation, but I observed it very common to them.. and I like it..
I love to check from time to time...
Hey I didn't knew abt it.
the final episode was magnificent and sad in the same time... Bi-dam had a paintful faith, Yu-shin was indeed the most loyal man the Queen had and he suffered so much when she died... what else to say? don't know!
Thanks Febrie!!! you rule!!! ;)
Hi Febrie! I'm sorry, but are u asking me about what will be air in the Philippines? I don't know, because I'm from Romania... hehe... at us the first korean movie was Jewel in the palace, the 2nd Yi San and 3rd The Great Queen Seon Deok and now they will give once again Jewel in the palace... i want that because I haven't seen it.
Thank's Febrie, it's really nice to chat with you too and forgive me for asking so many questions :P:P:P hehe
Anyway, in the final episode when Yu-shin told the Queen that the last word said by Bi-dam was "Deokman" she started to cry and what she understood??? that he loved her??? or??? uuuuh, i can't get out of my mind this sad ending...
before the Queen died what she tried to say to Yu-shin? she thanks to him for being there for her by her side, right??? hehehe
Thanks!!! kisess and hugs ;)
Febrie I think I know why QSD cried because for the last time Bidam want to make her feel what she longs for. to be called by her first name because when she became a princess and a queen no one called her by her name anymore... at the end QSD misses to be called by her first name.....
I still cant get over this... I really like yushin rang... but then I realized how pitiful Bidam in the story...
I love the OST video of windflower... Yushin Deokman, I feel like I want to cry...love it so much.. Love Bidam too.. I just love them
queen seon deok is a beautiful movie..
i really love it..
not sure about those koreanovela which the usually showed in the afternoon which I failed to watch because I was at work at those time... I can only speak about the primetime where QSD is being shown here in Philippines... They are not promoting yet because we are still at the number 30 plus episode, last night it was Yushing Rang preparing for the contest of PUngwoljo, maybe few more episode before Yushin's wedding... well it still a long way to go...so GMA is not promoting yet what next... hope it's another lee yo won drama...or Uhm Tae wong... or Kim nam gil..
Wow.!!!!!!Good Luck. You succes make me happy and cry. My opinion, you are is the best film. Congratulation!!!!!!
I am just wondering, we are just spectators of this drama, and it looks like it's taking time for us to get over it, I wonder how the actors and actresses are still feeling as of this moment... hope they are aware the people talk about this, adore their acting etc.. I am making an article about the love angle in the story hihihi, for me to have a record of it...hihihi...
Hi Febrie, im back :) actually, I’m also a Filipino. I have read some of the comments posted on your hub. I saw that you are looking for other Koreanovelas that will be aired here in the Philippines. I saw the commercial of the “East of Eden” last time. I don’t know yet what it is all about. And every weekday afternoon there were also some Koreanovelas aired on QTV 11. Ahmm.. such as Beethoven Virus, Formidable Rivals, Night after Night. Also from TV5 were High Kick and Smile You. ?
After I watched QSD all I want to do is to kill Yeomjeong! If I really can?!=) ? I totally love the Bideok love team.:) And also I am an avid fan of Kim Nam Gil. I first saw him in My Lovely Kim Sam Soon (My Name is Kim Sam Soon) and in Be strong! Geum Soon where he played a role of Geum Soon’s husband and died after a car accident. And Geum Soon was portrayed by Lady Seoseono in Jumong, if I’m not mistaken. By the way, when I read about his plan in joining a military training, I want to kick him hard (actually I’m good in kicking someone’s butt? haha![reminded me of Bi Dam teasing those Hwarangs about poking their butts! Haha] my sister said to me coz she experienced it lately..:) and tell KNG that there were many “obsessed” KNG fans here in the Philippines. Before he leave, he must visit us first! ? haha!!! And I’m sure all his Filipino fans will do everything to stop him joining that military training. Maybe he cant go back to Korea after visiting the Philippines. Haha!!! But in real life, what can we do to change his decision.. ahhww..:( I really love the song “cant I love you” I’m really amazed! I also love Lee yo Won and specially Mr. Go Hyun Jung! =)I really learned a lot from you hub. Thank you, thank you!!! Actually I am now a fan of yours! Hahaha!!!=) keep it up!!!=)
KNG at KIM sam soon, who among those characters please help me recall, and he was the husband of Geum Soon at be strong? I will need to watch that again but it was a short role....
Anyway the more I watch QSD the more I understand the love story...hahaha I have resentment for the way Yushin Rang stick to his kind of devotion...I can feel for the queen, Yushing Rang's reasoning is making her lonelier, and it was a relief to have bidam. remember this scene when the princess killed those villagers those she gave a chance and yet disobeyed, her hand was shaking, and though yushin rang consoled with her, it was in a way to remind her to be firm of her decision as a ruler, it's like a path the she will walk alone and he is behind her... bidam was different, he was concerned about the princess, even told her about acupuncture... well even in the real life, when you are disheartened with somebody and then there is someone who willingly comforted you without reserve... I am not surprised she chosed Bidam in the end.... bad ending really.. they just let them get married and no death...
Thank you so much for uploading this youtube clip of Mr Kim Nam Gil singing Can't I love you? I was moved to tears when I saw him visiting the kids at the home and he looks great wearing glasses too. Too bad, is there any way to contact him? I just wish to congratulate him for winning the awards at Queen Seon Deok and wish to encourage him to keep working hard in his role. I really liked his Bi Dam character very much and I honestly think his acting is realistic, esp. the nuances and varied hues in a person's emotions are well captured in Bi Dam.
Anyway, I'm his newly converted fan. Unfortunately I only started watching the show from episode 47. Hahaha
hello, i am from Philippines, and true blooded filipina., i myself was so very addict in this drama., i've lean a lot on the koreans history., i do really admired it so much., all the staff that give their best shoot in this drama were so magnificent, i cant really show my feeling coz my emotions were u high., hope to lean more., coz i do love traveling and in this drama, i feel that i was with the shilla's dynasty, that i also have been bring back on those century old history..
no further ado., more powerz to those cast, and all those staff who offer there time in making this drama as an FULFILLING SUCCESS..!!!

haha=) ahhww.. i would like to see him here in the Philippines soon.. i wish im in indonesia that time KNG visits there haha!! yah, and you're right. Kim Nam Gil has a Great Heart.. And Bi Dam too..=)
Maria, you're right,they shouldn't kill Bi Dam.. a sad love story..ahhw=(
I watched be strong geum song, KNG is a lot better looking now ins pite of his appearance in QSD.... QSD made him very popular....
HMP! i hate it! tinggal nila QSD during friday. Well, amp! i really love it. This show always make my mouth fell open. I just realize that my mouth is open during the commercial break! haha:)) well im addicted to it nah! my wallpaper in the computer is QSD. and literally my WALLpaper is QSD! Bi Dam is really on e of a kind, i just love him soo much becuase he's so intellegent. I just cant accept the fact that his mother is Lady Mishil!!!
well, i'm excited of what will be the ending.. i dont want to spoil myself, so i decided not to buy dvd of this. I'm gonna support it all the way, until the very end in the television...
Febrie, shaira said she hated it because our local tv station here in the Philippine stopped showing QSD on Friday, they used to show it 5 days a week...
Shaira, everybody who watches QSD experience this certain kind of magic that even if they watch the whole thing, they still cant get over it.... I already watched it in dvd, because I wanted to see how they really speak, but I am still watching them in our language coz not all translations in the film are good.. I am still watching it everytime I have time, and I guess I need to make a write up on my own analysis of the love angle in the story... and go to youtube and look for QSD Bloopers part I, you're going to love it for sure
ahah.., i seems that all of us here were really could move on on that drama..,! :) how fascinating those staff whom make success of this drama.., right choice of characters!!! ahahah., nywei.., hope that those characters can visit our country Philippines.. hope so..., :(
QSD was a very great drama!!
i really love it!!
i really admire all the characters especially lee yo won and kim nam gil...the two suits the characters they've been played for...
and because of this drama i really want to know their history...(even if i'm pilipino)
I really this film,,,im a filipina and i am really very sad about the ending especially when bidam died i hope he can visit the philppnes,,,,,,,,,,,,i love the cast especially deokman, bidam G od blz more power
I love QSD. I watch it again and again. Since I am a Filipino, It's really hard for me to understand much but the story is so great. Unfortunately , it breaks my heart to see those beautiful people to end in tragedy. I really appreciate that Deokman and Bidam are in love. Anyway, there is no better ending.
hello everyone,
i have only one question,,,did deokman really falls in love with Bidam or she just want to marry bidam because of some reason....,,,tnkz a lot
can i ask you febrie?..who is the real love of qsd..yushin or bidam...?
for me its bidam...just wanting to get your opinions coz i thought ur nice reasoner...is it ok?
thanks..
Hi Febrie & u all! How are you? Miss me? haha
oooooh... i miss soooooooo muchhhhhhhh QSD!
huh... i have found out some bad news a few days ago that Kim Nam Gil was rushed to the emergency ward on April 30 while shooting for his drama, Bad Guy because of Hiatal Hernia.
After two days, instead of resting, Kim Nam Gil insisted on attending his friend's wedding, Jan Dong-Gun on May 2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Uj1d_f0Q4g
But now he is getting better... and he's condition has improved!
Thanks! Love u all!
I want to answer on who QSD really loves....From the start it was yushin, but the problem with the two of them, they are both focus with their goals, that they forgot about their personal whims especially when they are faced with serious problems, both can't just place personal feeling in the first priority... for example... before and after the death of Princess Cheomyung, Yushin was the one determined to leave with deokman away from Silla, but Deokman changed her mind after her sister's death, and decided to become a ruler... at Episode 37, when Yushin can't give up his gaya people, it was deokman who was sentimental...after Sohwa's death, and deokman decided to go to the palace to face mishil, Yushin was the one sentimental telling her that No man would allow his loved ones to face her demise,(well something like that) and deokman was the one determined that she said, someone who lets sentiments get in the way of their goals, can never be a lover or subject of her... in other words in most of the episode it was Yushin. But having Bidam around was always a relief for Deokman.... I believe she fell in love with Bidam in the end but the sad part is, it was very short and painful..... Yushin was right in saying that only Bidam can give her solace, because from the start he was the one who was there when she was broken hearted when Yushin got married....
By the way I think East of Eden will be the next koreanovela I am curious...
like this so much.. i can relate with almost all of the characters so well....
y shilla? ...qsd supposed to marry bidam but didnt make it coz of the misunderstanding between them or should i say coz of bidam..
thanks for reply
What a subtle tasteful story! love it love it!!;D
febrie hahaha yes, you made me think too, the way QSD thinks... I was thinking too, in the story, they abolished the Gaya including the lists of Gaya people, and wolya pledged their loyalty to Chunchu, which I think removed the conflict in marrying Yushin? and how come Yushin is saying that only Bidam can give her solace? why can't he? is it because he is married already? or just to lessen his disheartenment.... hahaha febri I cant get enough of this, in fact I wanted to write Deokman's love story to further analyze it.... Yushin is keeping my mind upside down too.
I just notice in the end, they did not show her funeral... I think the DVD that I am watching is incomplete...I think I saw in a preview Yushin rang wearing this white and black clothes to offer prayers for the one that died, but I did not see it...is it Deokman;'s funeral? well wish I can buy the orig one with correct translation, but it looks very very expensive
so u mean febrie bidam was really the true love of deokman?
=)
so u mean febrie bidam was really the true love of deokman? i mean bet the two guys ...except silla
=)
Yes Febrie looks like at the end of the story it was Bidam, but I guess it was the story's mystery....Yushin maybe her greatest love but inspite of abolished gaya movement and listings and their loyalty transferred to Chunchu, the conflict in marrying him was lessen but still she chose Bidam, maybe in a woman's point of view, Bidam has only QSD to care about... Yushin is already married, and though multiple marriage were allowed in their culture, she still can't have Yushin's full devotion coz he has other family to care about... it could have been a happy ending with Bidam, if the queen is not dying and if Bidam was not swayed by his followers....in fairness with Yushin, I believe his greatest love is still the queen... oh looks like I made it complicated too... hahahha
i love queen seon deok
yes i think its bidam..for the 3rd time =)
the last words from qsd..the eloping with yushin..i think dat was not for yushin..it was for her...qsd's grief..once and for all the writer wants to end with the queen itself coz she was the lead star here..am i right?
hi....woww... QSD is still rock hera, nice to read all the comments !!! same with you all,,i still can't get enough of QSD..always thinking of it everyday...
i really admire Lee Yo Won, she's a GReat Queen..hehehe
queen seon deok is so addicting!!! the best drama in the whole world!!! bideok forever!!
Oh my God Febrie, although Yushin Rang is my greatest crush, cant avoid this admiration for Bidam, he has several facial expressions that is meltng my heart... so bad guy will start airing on May 26, i guess that will take a year before reaching Philippines? Hurray to Queen Seon Dok!!!
Shinita thanks for your comment and for visiting my hub
hi Febrie!
I think it was a only love story Deokman&Yushin.
I liked the drama series QSD. I liked Deokman in desert, Deokman nangdo, Deokman to war, Deokman is a smart, wise, brave, intelligent woman.
My favorite scene is Yushin "this person is… the key to everything that I intend on doing. The one I’ve chosen!" I love Yushin rang!
I was disappointed to episode 51, the writers have turned Deokman in Queen Seondeok slow, hesitant, without shine. It was ... an excellent drama series in general ... I deeply appreciate UTW's acting as Yushin . I like Uhm Tae-woong, is a very good actor. Please can you tell me more about him. Thanks.
I think in our lives, we love truly only once and Deokman once spoke about her feelings in episode 37 (I think, the episode with Yushin marriage). In rest, she was only the queen…
Thanks for the reply!
Snejana I would like to believe that too....and remember that episode when they were trying to escape from the Palace... when Yushin rang decided to be left behind, did you remember the Princess' reaction, she was hysterical right?a few episode after that, it was Yushin slightly showing his affection but that time Deokman said, someone who let sentiments, get in the way of their paths can never be a lover or subject of her.... I believe they are each other's greatest love but they just cant express it at the same time... but near the end, in spite of abolishing gaya and taking it away from Yushin, taking away all the conflict of marrying him and yet in the end she chose Bidam? why because she knows only Bidam can give her all the love, the if focus only to her... Yushin has many concerns already
Hi Maria!
Sorry, my English is not too good ...
To episode 50, she love only Yushin, this definitely.
After episode 50, she was the only queen. On Yushin she managed to save him, Yushin's fair and honest. On Bidam, failed to save him. Bidam had his own trauma. If she really loved, abdicate from beginning (ep.51) and go to Bidam. She and Chun Chu had equal rights (have passed 15 years and in all that time he stuck somewhere to 14 years, a child!!!... and love story is a bit forced). But she wanted to be the queen, was her dream, I believe so... and I wanted to see a happy ending... so many people died...I was disappointed with the final.
helu everyone!
as i was reading your comments, it became apparent to me that we are all been mesmerized by this wonderful historical drama and we all seemed cant get too much of this, we loved to talk about the details, tackle all the nuances and sometimes discuss interpretations.
im from phil too,and though i have the dvd(bad translations and all) i still want to watch the tagalog version, to see if i did understand well the drama, nothings beats watching it in your own vernacular language. i havent watched other korean historical dramas yet bec. im afraid that il compare it to QSD and il be disappointed bec. its not as good as QSD.
yeah, i remember that scene when they tried to escaped the palace during the coup, i saw how the princess really loved Yushin and how Yushin would try to protect her even at the cost of his own life, it was also one of the many scenes that i loved in the drama. i also loved the wedding, when Yushin got married and to ease her pain, she went and visited his land to see how the people of Gaya settling there and how they took care of the land that they were given at cost of his own happiness..I really loved Yushin's faithfulness to his people and to to his faithfulness to Deokman even though he knew that in the end she found someone else to loved, it was really a great love..
QSD showed much of the story evolving around Yushin& Deokman's lovestory, sowe Febrie hehehe..
loved reading all your posted comments, keep it flowing!!
Love to watch Queen Seon Deok again and again..
Kim Nam Gil is a great actor and he's so cute..
All the actors are good and I love to watch them all..
Thanks for sharing this drama to everyone.
Wow! Thanks! Can I download the song? It sounds really nice! I am a fan of korean songs
Vhenn I agree with you the DVD here in the Philippines has bad translation is some episode, that is why I still why QSD in our languages because it was only through them that I can understand what the characters said.
Obviously we love QSD... There is so much love, friendship and loyalty in the story..
and yes we all hate the ending especially when you look back at the part when the main characters were helping in other to survive mishil...
.. wow !! this is the best drama i've ever seen ..
hello=) finally, i missed commenting here for 2 weeks i think.. haha!!
actually, after finishing our QSD dvd, i didn't understand some lines at all.. so every night i watched QSD for better translation..
i would just like to ask, where can i buy the OST of QSD? the easier way.. thanks.=)
febrie, do you have a clue about the East of Eden?.. thanks..=)
yes wish I can buy OST of QSD too. hope they will sell it here in the Philippines coz QSD is a hit here.. I also hope they will invite some of the cast here
the Philippine is now airing QSD after Yushin's wedding, I really need to watch this closely because this part and onwards were the ones with bad translation in my dvd, that I did not understand what they discussed in the story...
i hope so.. i wish i can grab a copy of it... =).. really love the song Cant i love you...=)
looks like the actor who played deokman's father or the king is in East of Eden too...
Febri I haven't tried checking but I'll try to visit music stores here in the Phil. I love Windflower and Lee yo won's Bidam song, but then I like all the background music that they played in QSD
Febri one more question please, I know we've been discussing this for a month now, but I am just curious..in the story of QSD, I did not see much effect of Yushin's marriage to mishil's granddaughter, because we are all aware he remained to be at the side of the princess and even was even tortured for loyally following her during mishil's martial law...so what changes did it make to yushin? and what mishil clan's gained? there was a part also when the king announced the deliberation of Deokman's nuptial, Mishil's son and husband visited Yushin and wife and they were glad to know that she was pregnant? I dont think they are happy because of the baby, but they found it an assurance that Yushin will never be a problem now that search for deokman's better half was being deliberated... Febri hope you have the answer hahahaha.. thanks in advance
Febrie thanks yes Yeong Mo fall in love with Yushin but who can't fall in love with Yushin at those times? If I am included in the drama I maybe one of the ladies who secretly fall for him hahahahha. so sex is always included in the package?and it's normal then to have a child out of marriage where the love is not a mutual feeling.?but then Yushin is still a man right? with all those disappointments and suppressions just by loving Princess Deokman, of course he may gave in to his needs anytime..observing his character in a movie as a man he is very touchy right? always hugging deokman when opportunity calls for it.. oopps I am analyzing it deeper again... so Chun chu has a sister?thought he was an only child. looks like there was an exchanges of sisters huh? Kim Mun Hee is Yushin's sister right? yes the poor boryang....
hi febrie, maria & all!
@maria
i think ur the most avid fan amongst us, you're always have a comment ready. i also wish to have their ost even for the life of me could not understand the meaning of the songs but it seemed liked it has a deep meaning. so if youl able to secure it guys, will you also informed how to have one and also the original dvd.
many thnx.
@febrie
east eden is not yet shown here in our country, u think it would also be a hit? are there some korean drama that u can recommend, amm i mean your personal choice.
tnx as always
hello!!
Vhenn hahaha well I just like to talk about QSD and innermost of it because I know many would love to hear more from it... I also enjoy your comments guys that's why I can't help but response... about the songs yes I like it too I love the windflower most of all, in fact I am trying to sing it though the words are unfamiliar. there is a translation in the lyrics, but you know the melody and the reminder of some qsd scene are enough for us to feel the songs. nice talking to you guys always, hope this will extend beyond QSD...
East of Eden, I think one of the lead star was the one in endless love so i think those who like him there will look forward to this...
oops febrie thanks for the nice words
hi there just want to share, believe it or not though I have finished watching QSD at DVD and still watch it several times, there are part of it that I dont understand that is why I am watching QSD in Filipino version strictly. It was only this week that I realized why the commoners rallied and captured the governor, they rallied because inspite of little harvest, hajong and serong collected the same tax amount from them... this is followed by the episode where the Princess punished the 3 commoner by killing them herself. aigoo...that episode will be shown on on monday....these are the parts with bad translation so guys this is not over yet... hahaha aigoo
my wife has just finished this series :-)
great review
Hello, wow Queen Seondeok really rocks!!! Discussions are everywhere and is not ending...whew! Good to visit this hot hub page again, I was here several weeks ago. I too still can't get over with this phenomenal drama. Often my free time was spent on surfing around the web to read more about the drama & about my favorite character Deokman (Lee Yo Won) or just re-watching the drama. I am already crazy...I wonder when I can get over it. I tried watching new historical dramas like Jejoongwon & Dong-yi but it didn't work...Queen Seondeok still seized me...gosh!!!
Anyway, just want to let everyone know that I am also for DEOKMAN-YUSHIN love team...hehehe!
hello everyone! febrie, im back...
im surprised that after a few weeks a lot of comments have piled up in your hub since i last visited. great! hahaha! i think we're still in the run up to ep 40 here in our philippine tv.
anyway, just want to share that some of my friends have also started watching (the others have finished) the dvd copy. and all i hear were rave reviews on qsd. it just felt funny that some were trying to make a competition out of the yushin-deokman and bidam-deokman love affair. haha as if they are really so affected by the drama. i think i read somewhere (i just forgot the link) that KNG (or was it some other cast of qsd?) told fans that historical drama is different from real history. and i think that was what made this drama series interesting, the fact that the writers tried to incorporate what happened in real history into it. but of course, some facts were altered to highlight the conflict between yushin and bidam.
would you believe i watched the entire episode again for the second time and i believe deokman had at least three loves in the series. the first was ajeoshii, whom she had a crush on when she was still a teenager living with sohwa at the taklamakan dessert. but young as she is it was just sort of a fleeting inspiration. it was aejoshi who urged her to find munno, to find her destiny in gyerim.
and of course, throughout her nangdo days, she had yushin. until his marriage, deokman still harbored feelings for him...after that, maturing into a queen, she fell for bidam...
great casting, really. i also started appreciating the roles of lord seolwon, santak, jukbang and archeon rang. =)
wow nice to see lots of comments aside from mine hahahaha... I am watching QSD in filipino closely and I don't watch tv anymore coz it's always QSD.... somebody mentioned CASTAN, I was wondering about that too, he was convincing deokman to stay with him, I wonder, is it for adoption or is it actually marriage? coz you see at those times, you can get marriage as early or as young as you are. remember chum yeong I think she got married at 14 or less?
greetings to all!!
maria, it seemed that we do have one thing in common and that is our love of QSD. And im really open for that offer of friendship(in fact im all for it coz i dont have anything to lose but something to gain out of this so i said go for it!!)hehehe.
jel, hurray for that loveteam, im always happy if others could appreciate Deokman&Yushin's lovestory!!
hanski, its not that we are affected, it only proved that we really love and supported their loveteam even its only for the drama, it like choosing your team on a basketball season, you will support and loved that team no matter what..
febrie, we only have you to thank for, for having this hub and for letting us express our opinions here. you deserve a double thumbs-up!!
and for everybody, i really liked reading your posted comments and sometimes those that little details that i sometimes took for granted do infact have a significant meanings..
for Deokman Yushin fans, have you noticed this, when the King finally acknowledged deokman, this was after the eclipse, you saw facial expression of Yushin? he didn't look happy right? and they have gazes that showed love? I mean nice acting....hahahaha.
Febrie so when Cartan offered her, it was not actually adoption? it was marriage?
Vhenn let's enjoy QSD Philippine version till the end... it's only now that I understand it completely, now her killing of the commoner had more impact... and of course Febrie thanks for the your explanation..
@vhen, febrie
Yeah I understand… got me so hooked too! Hehehe. Any way I supposed it should have been titled as “the life and loves of QSD” hahaha! Yup that Italian guy was good looking too. =)
Anyway, I just figured out that when QSD asked Yushin in that last episode before she died if they can escape once again, she was speaking as a woman unfulfilled. Not really that she was turning to Yushin again for any romantic inclination, it’s just that her longing to be a real woman was never fulfilled. She may have been a successful ruler but was never successful in relationships. That sucks, right? Reminds me of what Sohwa said when she handed her Jukbang’s gift of a wooden sculpture of Cartan: “Heroes end up lonely…” (just my perspective, please)
Sigh… =/
Some said that QSD fell in love with Yushin in the latter part, but for me from since their first war together she is already infatuated with Yushin... and same with Yushin coz it was not mentioned in the drama when he realized that Deokman was a woman... Deokman said, parting with yushin is regrettable; she didnt want Yushin to be included in her plan because when she looked at him her heartbeat reached the surface, and she remembers her desire to run away with him. too many to mention..
about the italian guy, yes she likes him too much but I never thought it could mean romantic or it was a different culture maybe...
i love queen seon deok and song.. angels brought me here......
how come everybody is quiet now... well just want to share that it's monday once again so definitely a good reason to go home and relax and watch QSD
Hello everyone! I am also a fan of QSD and the "Yushin-Deokman" love team! :D This is a great site. I enjoyed reading and learned a lot. Thanks! I've been searching for Korea's history since this QSD phenomenon and because of that I wanted to visit Gyeongju, Korea and pay a visit as well to the Queen's tomb and Yushin's tomb(and that's if I can gather enough resources to handle the tour - money I mean). By the way, I'm from the Philippines.
Hi Dannee25, I'll go with you if only time and chances will permit me hahaha...I am a Yushin Deokman fan too.. anyway would you know Dannee if QSD OST will be available in our Country?
Wow! That's so great! Yeah if time and chances will permit us! Thank you so much! The idea really excites me! :)
@Maria: I have no idea if the QSD OST will be available in our music stores. I got mine from sites such as 4shared.com, filestube.com and mediafire.com Is the original DVD copy already available here?
I've started to watch again the series. I just realized that all of QSD's projects particularly the one that concerns land cultivation were influences from the books she read when she was living at Taklamakan Desert. ^_^
101% i love this.........!!!!!!!!!!
this was the greatest korean
drama i've ever watch..
I so agree with you ladybrinth! :) It is my first time to get so hooked on a Korean drama and swear, there's no ounce of regret. Everything is worth it!
I so love Ms. Lee Yo Won, her smile and facial expression just captivates me every time!
Dannee25, I love Lee Yo Won too, I like her beauty when I watched her in Bad Love or Cruel love, which is not as bad at what others saide about it... I watched it again last.. when GMA7 promoted QSD With Lee Yo Won playing the title role, I really looked forward to it...but I never expected me to be this "addict" with the film... The Story is just great...
I will have a long weekend because of Independence day..QSD is not over yet in the PHilippines febrie, so I guess we still have more to talk about hahahah
The Great Queen Seon Deok IS THE BEST (L)
LOVE IT
hi febrie! im back. its independence day in the philippines and we just proclaimed our 15th president. qsd, as usual,is still airing on phil tv and i think we are now on the episode that mishil has decided to aspire for the throne herself. i still can't get over with the QSD fever perhaps because my job entails me to somehow link philippine politics to its storyline.
i am really amazed at mishil's character. if she's not a vicious, ruthless politician i would have vouched for her leadership because she was the one who had enough guts to go against political dynasty. i would imagine that in an era where the political trend tends to favor those in the royal bloodline (even if the king is weak and has no political clout) it would be frustrating for any true blooded-politician to aspire to be a ruler. its an era where dynasties such as the Tang dynasty, qing dynasty flourished. mishil's frustration, for me is understandable, if not daunting because if not for her shilla would have crumbled to pieces as baekje and goguryeo are formidable empires. mishil provided a backbone for shilla's military.
i got to see the link you posted about the bidam war. contrary to the insinuation in the drama that the bidam's uprising would not be known in history, in truth this one actually gained international impetus. if i am not mistaken, takeda yukio's assessment of the bidam war was that it was a "just war" between two warring factions in korean history. one which is bidam's faction which was "dependent on the Tang dynasty" demanded QSD's dethronement in order to avoid intervention by tang. the tang dynasty,i understand do not favor queen rulers. the other faction, that of yushin, was independent of Tang, defended the queen because they adhere strictly "to the royal authority of seonggol." however, i want to expand my knowledge on this one, because as far as i know, it is also a good feminism and gender studies in asian history--much like queen elizabeth's in the west. im doing a little research, got me intrigued that's why
anyway, on a lighter note, i learned that kim nam gil actually based his performance as bidam on two japanese mangga: vagabond and slam dunk. cool! he doesn't just do acting, he makes research. i also got to stumble on one interview on him that he also researched about the history of the bidam war when the directors cast him for the character. great! that's why i love this actor. resourceful and brilliant! =D
i just can't believe why its indicated in wikipedia that bidam was qsd's lover. and you're right qsd had four husbands, one ofthem is archeon rang with whom she had a love child. i thought the writers just made a twist to the story but when i got to check wikipedia, bidam went down into history as qsd's lover. however, there's no citations so i guess they need to update on this...don't you think so?
Hanski, how admirable that is so deep....I've never been this deep with history not after QSD and not after meeting resourceful people like you and febrie...
oh we are nearing the ends of QSD though we are still a few episodes before mishil's coup, I am afraid I am going to miss QSD. I love Lee Yo Won.. so fascinated with her life..
wow febrie do you have a link where to find it.. I guess QSD casts became really close with one another... I guess they worked together for many months
Last night aired the episode when Chunchu finally decided to join his Aunt,Princess Deokman, of course you remember that part when he cried and said did you shed as many tears as I have? and then the Windflower song enters, and it ended with deokman embracing his nephew... the sad thing about the Philippine version is they changed the background music into balbambam, well for me that was the most touching scene and I admire Chunchu for great acting..and Windflower added to the drama...
hi febrie, maria!
thank you, but no its not that deep. but i just have a penchant for research work. im a writer/reporter that's why. qsd (and i also watched made me more curious of history not just of korea but also of other asian countries.
btw, febrie i just finished ep 1 of KNG's Bad Guy. Gosh! All i can say is KNG really rocks! KNG can go sexy even without having to bare flesh. hehehe! he can portray a character with depth. something i seldom see even in american dramas or mexican dramas.
i also watched lee yo won's performance in Bad Love (its cruel love in phil tv) and she was really superb! she's just a great actress. when it comes to acting, she's got good timing. =) (i've been trying to finish jumong too.)
im still trying to search more about the bidam war. truth is, i've seen links but its written from the perspective of japanese historians. got me curious why it was like that. you see, when history is written by a distant observer, it tends to be biased or let's just say, written with a different perspective. its like indonesian history being written by the british or philippine history being written by spanish historians or american historians. so febrie, that's why i agree with you, we need a korean historian in your blog to explain some of the facets of qsd's history. =)
Thanks 4 d review! I finished watching it about 4 mos. ago... It is indeed one of my favorite Korean dramas, along with Jumong & Jewel in the Palace. No doubt, overall, I was again fascinated by the men behind these series.... Hail to Queen Seon deok!
I got really intrigued by your post. I am a fan of Korean drama as well but I am very picky about it though. The last time I saw one in which I ended up buying a cd was "my girl" which was my all time favorite. I will download this one though because I think it's a keeper.
Hello! I am hooked with QSD since I watched it on youtube last Sunday. I am up to Episode 27 now. I wanna get the whole episode of QSD. Would that be possible?
By the way, what would be the role of Lord Chunchu(dunno if it's right)the son of Princess Cheonmyeong in Deokman's life?
it is nice to see the movie of queen seon deok it really touch our heart,i cant believe it..........
My husband and I have been watching this series on hulu.com and love it. For my husband it is more like the dramas he watched growing up in Singapore. Great cast, beautiful costumes, drama, even comedy. I also like that it is history!
Pink Vampire chunchu will be deokman's natural successor... many do appreciate QSD, I hope the casts are aware of it..
Hello Febrie, Maria and u all!! I'm still reading what u are saying about QSD and i really appreciate this hubpage of Febrie!!
I didn't had time to write something because of my exams...
I love this drama soooooo muchhhhhhhhhh and hope to be broadcast again :D
Thanks! hugs to u all!
Febrie, thankS!
I have watched that too... But overall, in terms of gradeur, creativity, plot, scenes, you name it all... My top 3 favorite Korean dramas are Jewel in the Palace, Jumong, & Queen Seon Deok... they are the best.... really learn a lot from them...
I too love Jewel in the palace and Jumong, I remember how I love Jang Geum and this captain who became her husband at least happy ending, in Jumong I was sad because he did not end up with Lady seseano. but QSD is my favorite but then I am sad about the ending....the effect of it lingers
here in Philippines we are in the part of Mishil's martial law, quite nearing end, i think w'ell QSD until July and East of Eden will follow in August... I saw the king now in a different role...
febrie I guess it became a habit to visit your hub.. hey please read my latest, don't laugh at me, I am just trying to practise my creative writing skills hehehe
hi... im a fan of QSD.. its not my first to visit this site,,,though it was my first to comment here...
i just want to clarify points about blood relation of the major characters... can you help me in this matter? thnk u!
Febrie don't announce I am ashamed hahahah. they might know who....great info that you provided nelle those were the basic....
Thanks for visiting my hub... I having 2nd thought writing the next episode hahaha
Febrie no ending yet but I added the next part...I will end sooner and with less complications...hahaha thanks again....
thnx for the provided information.... iam really bit confused... dats y i ask you... but as of now,,, im on the last episode... im getting excited... :)
Febrie i have added some in my love story hahaha
anyways here in the philippines last night QSD was in the part of Princess Deokman telling yushin bout her plan to the palace herself, this is during Mishil's martial law... well, the philippine version of their dialog is more heart tickling...
yeah, QSD is very great.. luv this.same with jumong, and jewel in the palace. many korean movies are great ^_^
hi.. im done watching QSD.. yeah ur ryt,,, last part was the hardest thing to watch... ur being touch with every single part of the story.. u can feel it as if ur really part of the drama... i even watched the last episode thrice... but im quite unsatisfied for the fact that it was too cruel for all of them... esp for deokman and bidam.... everything ended just lyk dat... they were not given the chance to express more about their feelings and instead they ended with too much pain... :(
but overall, QSD was a big success... im hoping for more historical korean drama to come...
thank u.. :)
Febrie QSD is nearing end here in the PHilippines, and you know I heard Lee Yo Won will visit the Philippines in August... I hope it's true, I am going crazy already..will do everything to see her in person
FEbrie I am not just thrilled I think I am going crazy...hahaha thinking of taking a leave from work, talk to my highschool friend who have connections with the GMA7 the station the handles QSD....praying to God to give me a chance to have photos with Lee Yo Won...
helu once again!
by now you all knew that QSD nearing its end here in the Phil. It just irked me that they are cutting some parts of drama and it lost some of interest to those who werent able to see the dvd copy.
how i wish that they didnt cut some scenes out..
hi vhenn so you observed it too, I guess the cuts are drastic... it was so obvious last night... from Seukpum's death then jumped to Chilsuk... then from Deokman being called because the king was not getting any better.... it was done all so fast....I will need to ask my auntie who never watched it at dvd, if she noticed the cuts... I mean that part with Chilsuk should not be like what we saw last night... looks like GMA 7 didn't realized that QSD will be very long, they are already promoting East of Eden for August...
Hi I can't imagine how are they going to make it shorter... so disappointing....I guess because of deadline they will need to sacrifice some meat of the program...
hi maria!
yeah, it was really disappointing, ive been wanting to watch the end very badly, i want it translated in our langauge. I was really sad for Mishil & Lord Seolwon as well as for Chilsuk & Seukpum for their tragic end..
hey, maria, i want to visit your hub, did you also feature QSD there?
Hi everyone!
It's been a long while since my last visit in this page. I still read the posts here. WOW! That's amazing, LYW in the Philippines this August! WOW! WOW! WOW! Can you update us with that wonderful news here, Maria, if Febrie wouldn't mind? :D
It's so sad that I'm missing a lot of part in QSD (Philippine version) because of work. Huhuhuhu! T_T Hope it's available in youtube. *crosses fingers*
I would just like to share that I love listening to the QSD soundtrack. It's my stress reliever and it never fails! Whenever I can't think straight at work, I play the soundtracks in my laptop while working (with earphones ofcourse). I love Baramggoc (Wind Flower), Daleul Gariun Hae, Balbambalbam and all the instrumentals in it. Also Uhm Tae Woong's Ojik Hansaram and Kim Nam Gil's Can't I Love You. For some strange reasons, Wind Flower has some magic on me, it always thrills me and makes me smile. That's why I always play it on my playlist whenever I feel sad. :D

Dannee, I wanted the QSD OST... I want to hear Uhm tae wong voice, is he a good singer? is there an easier way to purchase QSD OST? aside from paying thru paypal and credit card?
howdy, everyone!
@danee, please share how can i also have the sound tract of QSd, i especially loved Bambalbambam, did i get it right and whats windflower was that the ost of QSD? please, hoped you can share, now its nearing the end here in the phil., im sure some of us will ultimately missed it, i for one will missed it terribly..
@maria, il visit your hub one of these days and if you ever found an easier way to access their soundtract, please do share, thnx in advance
@febrie, i hoped that you can translate in english version the other site that i visited, the pics were great, i only hoped that i can understand what were being said on that site.
ilove you kim nam gil very much
hi febrie! and hi to all!
just got back from japan. so i missed qsd Philippines for two weeks. so sad.. wanted to see the Phil version. however, just reading vhenn, and marie's comments right now made me even sadder.
@vhen, marie: is it really true GMA7 made some drastic cuts on the drama series? huh, they should have anticipated the drama would be long. east of eden is good but not as excellent as qsd.
@febrie: japan is great. i was also surprised to learn they too were hit by the korean wave. but during my stay there made me interested to watch more japanese, korean, taiwan drama. really, their dramas and movies have more depth and more interesting. it just makes me sad that our (phil) movie, showbiz industry could not produce that kind of series when in fact phil history and filipino culture is also rich and deep.
im surprised that after two weeks, your hub is getting longer... hahaha! =D
@ marie: lee yo won is really coming to phils in august?
@ febrie: it's also sad to hear that Kim Nam Gil is now being called to do military duty. heard that no more extensions are allowed. and the director of bad guy is now mulling Rain as his replacement. (this is just what i heard).
i hope to see KNG in future lead roles in saeguk dramas. im anticipating more good roles for him after his two year military service.
we'll miss him though! i already miss seju Go hyung jun (mishil). bidam and mishil really rocks!
Hanski, Vhenn, Febrie and Danne, as of this moment, Lee Yo Won Visit is not confirm yet, but I ask a friend who can ask if this is possible, once I confirm it's true I will definitely announce it here..
Hanski, though Bad guy is not yet here in the philippines, I felt sad that Kim Nam Gil will really need to leave bad guy.... the military service is not of perfect timing, I was also dreaming of his possible team with Lee Yo won next year coz I heard, they are only allowed to team up together two years after their last team up...
@marie: thanks! that would be great! i wouldn't pass off the opportunity then, if she does visit the philippines. i really wish kng and lyw will team up in the future. they look great as a couple. though i wish this time it would be a good ending.
Hanski want to see them in a romantic comedy.... with light drama.. they are both versatile actors
I really love queen seok dok. shes so beautiful. the story itself is great and so with the actors and actresses esp. Lady Mishil... they are really good!!
Thank you febriedethan
Greetings, dear online friends! =)
@Maria: Thanks for the update, Maria! Well, I just downloaded the QSD OST online. I searched it on google and some people uploaded it on sites such as filestube.com and mediafire.com, that's where I got my copy of the OST. Sorry for the illegal download! T_T
@Hanski: Hi! How's Japan? Aside from Korea, Japan is also part of the country list that I would like to visit in Asia someday. =D
@Vhen: I just looked it up at google and some generous people uploaded it on their blogsites and other file sharing sites. It's an illegal download though >_< sorry for patronizing it. Yeah, I agree with you, a lot of us definitely will miss QSD. That's why I always visit this page when I have the time to go online. Febrie's hub sure is a way to connect people who loves everything about QSD.
@Febrie: You're right, this has become a forum for all QSD lovers! =D It's also a great way to meet people from other countries! What I like most in this hub/forum is that people following your hub show respect to its visitors and their comments! =D
if you mean you downloaded it, would it include the MTV of the song?
Dannee thanks for visiting my hub now you know my true love Peso
@danee: hi! japan's great! got to meet a lot of people and those who are also k-drama addicts. nice spots and great scenery. you should go visit japan. im also dying to visit s. korea. hey, i would also like to know where i can download qsd soundtracks, i like the windflower song too. =)
@febrie: i really just got hold of the info from friends in japan. actually, there have been speculations as to who really should replace KNG, and Rain is being mulled to be it. like there's going to be an accident, and a facial surgery would commence...something like that. but really i have no concrete idea.
it was also in tokyo where i learned that park yong ha, one of the lead characters in the k-drama "winter sonata" committed suicide. he's got a strong following in Japan. winter sonata is one of the first batches of k-drama that hit phil tv. sequel to "endless love". i love bae yong joon, he's also handsome, great guy, and i also like his role in "the legend."
about rain: i watched "ninja assassin." nice movie. nice martial arts. im beginning to like martial arts movies. =)
Hanski me too I'm beginning to appreciate action movies
anyway so sad about that suicide thing, but how come it frequently happened to Korean stars, I remember the girl from the attic cat soap opera who committed suicide too? I feel so sad about them....but of course they are also human affected by life's challenges... hope this wont happen to my korean favorites.and of course to other stars too..
queen seon deok is my favorite korean drama all of my life i love you kim nam gil kim seung ho uhm tae wong especially my favorite actress lee yo won
Febrie, I read in one forum the Lee Yo won had her share of depression when she was 29 years old which I think was just recently, I think she admitted it but she is okey now. But no one knows about the reason of her depression..
FEbrie about your question on Military training, it does not exist in Philippines too.. I think it's because South Korea is still in War, I know in MIddle east area, males are required to that too...maybe countries who are still in war required their males to do so..
i love reading some updates about Lee Yo Won...
Im an avid fan
Thank you.. this is a professional page!! wheow
@febrie: they have finally cut short bad guy up to ep 17. they did not replace KNG. glad to hear it. bec you're right no one can replace him on that role.
about the suicide in s. korea, japanese friends told me that it was due in part by the financial burden of young adults in caring for their elderly. both japan and s. korea are actually experiencing decline in birth rates and marriage rates! due to the negative economic condition. and that was said to have been a lot of pressure to the younger generation. i was skeptical about it when they told me that. bec in the phils, most families are in the same situation but as far as i know there are no complaints and suicide happens very very rarely. (or maybe not just reported)
@ marie: yes your right about the military training. s. korea needs it bec they are still technically at war with pyongyang. the korean war did not ended on a truce but just a ceasefire. so when the cheonan explosion happened it just aggravated the situation. even japan is frowning against n. korea and they are really serious on helping s. korea. now, there are issues where some rich s. koreans and celebrities are bribing the military to spare them from their military duty or shorten their duty. and their community do not take this lightly. anyone who rejects military training risks the ire of the entire community. so judging from KNG's decision, he did not ask to be given special treatment that is why his training would commence for 2 years. rain i think was only given 1 year.
Hanski and Febrie, so hardship is really all over the world.....but maybe some pinoys are so adaptive to it... and that's how I observe life, even if you are rich if you are not careful you will loss everything... but I think KOrea was known for suicide incidence because those who committed it were popular people.... it did happen in the Philippine movie industry but not as frequent as what happened to Korea....
Anyways I saw one photo of kim nam gil in his military haircut... he is good looking really
QSD is nearing end....

Thanks for sharing the pics of KNG in his military haircut! =D
I might start a hub about QSD because it is nearing end... I took some photos, and will share with you how i got it... will inform you people if I am done with it.. just a bit busy lately, works are coming one after another
@marie: yes pls do so, qsd is nearing its end on phil tv.
last night, i watched arirang news and got to watch park yong ha's funeral. i think one of the actors in cruel love (bad love-lee yo won) was among those who carried his casket. it was really a sad sight. =( sigh
@febrie: thanks for uploading KNG's photos sporting his military cut. im gonna miss my bidam =(
hanski I feel sad about that too... it's a good thing you can watch arirang and can update us about it...yes it's too sad... hope to see bad guy here in the philippines but it's too short... I think/
@Maria: I will be looking forward for your hub! ^_^
This is a great epic drama like war and peace by a Russian writer. Indeed the writer and director of Queen Seon Deok are brilliant together with all the actors and actresses. Among the Korena dramas I've watched this is the best. Congratulations.
wow it is consider as unpredictable drama of the year!!!
Hello everyone! I just found out that QSD staged a concert for its OST. I want to watch the whole copy. Does anyone know where we can watch it or grab a copy of it? hehe.. Thanks!
not sure if I heard about it but would it mean the those who sang in the OST also sang in that concert live? wow
not sure if I heard about it but would it mean the those who sang in the OST also sang in that concert live? wow
can't get over it.
i love Queen Seon Deok!soooooooooooooo mucccchhhhh!
Cheers
@Maria: Yup! Just found some clips yesterday when I visited youtube. The clips just made me want to get a whole copy of it. Search it on youtube! =) the thought of it really excites me.
I' m so happy to discover this hubpage!! I thought I'm the only person who feels this way after watching QSD. Like you Febrie and the others, I cant seem to get over this drama series... it's the first time i got sooooo affected with a series on TV. I wonder what sort of magic potion or spell they have injected in the drama to make all of us feeling this way. I always sleeps at 2Am for 2 months now just to do the viewing on youtube. I also follow it up on TV, not to mention that i've already finished an entire DVD weeks back. Quite addicting i must say...
Anyway thanks a lot for creating this hub. I am a Bidam-Deokman fan like you.
I love you Kim Nam Gil!!
hi everyone!
it cant be denied, QSD is only days away to its end. let's reminisce, what were your favorite scene in the drama, i would like to hear of it? Which part did you fell in love with the story?
Vhenn hahaha too many to mention but as a starter, I love everything about deokman and yushin during nangdo days.... I love the scene when Yushin was getting ready to leave for war with Seolwon, deokman was still looking at him while he was on his way to the battlefield and he looked back too... I mean as early as that, you can sense affection growing between the two... I also love it when yushin was looking for her at the mud, and Deokman actually saved his life by shooting an arrow to the the enemy, love that shot of deokman the camera from her one leg stepping on the corpse, going up to her face.. that's enough for now hahaha....
Febrie you mean Lee yo won and other were there to sing their songs?
I like Bidam in the pungwolfjo contest.... that's one my favorite, he is like a man trying to impress his most honored girl hihihi
I LOVE YOU UHM TAE WONG KIM NAM GIL KIM SEUNG HO LEE SEUNG HO ESPECIALLY LEE YO WON
I LOVE YOU UHM TAE WONG KIM NAM GIL KIM SEUNG HO LEE SEUNG HO ESPECIALLY LEE YO WON
my fave scenes are..
1. when bidam was putting deokman to sleep
2. bidam and deokman professed their love for each other before mishil's altar
3. and last scene where lyw embraced her young self
in previous episodes i also love the scene where deokman saved yushin with her arrow. and of course, bidam's martial arts moves. astig!
i forgot, i cried at the episode when munno died. i like that too
i also like the bidam-mishil scene when especially after the botched alliance deal. mishil touching bidam's face. very moving.
i like almost all bidam-mishil scenes. i remember always looking forward to their confrontations =)
I just watching the story. Now i reach the point that Misil try to coup. I want to know what happen at that point. please post it.
Well last night the episode is about Deokman announcing her conjugal ties with Bidam, it was in filipino version so the effect is more heartwrecking, well at least for Deokman-Yushin... I was deeply touched with yushin saying for his loyalty to his ruler he chose to turn his back the woman the he loves. and he said forgive me for my shortcomings and the Queen did not answer, making me wonder if she is acknowledging it or not.... Yes Bidam bring deokman to sleep is also very touching, looking at Bidam's face while watching the queen to sleep, really said he is madly in love..
Lay thou Princess together with Chunchu will try to escape away from the palace thru the help of Yushin and Bidam.... Gaya people will be the princess's support while she was out of the palace. Sohwa died because she volunteered to play as bait and pretended as the princess. Chilsuk was the one who killed sohwa.... the princess will return to palace for open questioning...
hi all!
thank you for obliging me and sharing your most memorable scenes. i also have my own favorite scenes. I fell in love with deokman when she cried her heart out at the desert, when she thought that she lost her mother. i loved the scene when they were going to war and though Yushin could not say goodbye to Deokman in so may words but he told her it by his meaningful gaze as he marched out of the camp. i loved the scenes during the warm the encounter with Deokman-yushin & alcheon where they forged their first friendship there. i loved the scene where Yushin was so frantically looking for deokman among the dead and was ultimately was saved by deokman. i loved the scene where deokman saw her mother/nanny for the second time. i loved the scenes when Yushin discovered the Deokman was in fact a woman, remember that? i could not figured if he was happy or sad that he found that she was really a woman dressed in a soldier uniform..when he accompanied her and asked her to go away with him never to return to Sorabeol..just loved that scenes..
actually my list will go on and my space will not be enough if il list all my favorite scene. thse will suffice for now.
but im so happy to know that we have almost the same fave scenes among the drama. and thank your for answering my question.
@ cecilia
yes the scene last night, was so sad for Yushin-Deokman fans added to the fact it was said in out language, it was the ending for their lovestory and beggining for Bidam and Deokman.
i so wished that there could be a sequel on this drama..
thank you for sharing guys, love you for loving QSD!!
and thanks for febrie as always for having this hub..
i really love this drama..... i was inspired by deokmans' leadership and how she handles everything....

guys let's also vote for Lee Yo Won, she is in 4th place, who knows our votes will help her reach the first place.. thanks
Vhenn I love all Yushin-deokman scene, I love it when yushin said he hates the face that you are going to be a princess.. which made me realized that Yushin never intend to marry a princess but a simple woman..that's why he fell in love with deokman instead of princess cheumyeong....I guess if both remained single it wouldn't hurt if they remained single but with devotion with one another.. the thing is Yushin got married, and deokman maybe wanted to marry a man who will only think of her not of other family or silla.... that's why she chose Bidam....hayss...
nice informative hub,i like korean show like qsd and jumong because they are full of tactics and wise moves.
Vhenn it's fact not face so yushin said"I hate the fact that you are going to be a princess"

Hey co-QSD addicts, are you aware about this petition for another QSD ending? I think it's a very nice move for that particular fan who started this petition. I'm sure most of us wanted another ending, a happy one. I myself cant get much sleep trying to picture out in my mind 'what if the drama ended this way' or what if the directors added an intimate scene like this'.I think I'm getting crazy already.Haha! Really, it would be a relief if I would see an ending where Bidam was not brutally killed, and he and doekman were allowed to talk.I dont know with you guys but my heart is really crying out for this..A HAPPY ENDING FOR QSD!!!
Here's the link:
I want to know about Mysil and Subordinae die or not
Hi Friends. Regarding the Queen Sendeok story, I want to know that Misil and her subordinate die or not? Please inform me?
i miss lay thoui
You can Show Picture the great Queen Soedoek to me . Plead
thanks febrie for visiting my hub... yes almost all the scenes are my favorite hahaha.. well mostly nangdo days with yushin..
in addition, I love it when yushing kind hit his face or forehead when he realized something he did it twice first when Deokman was mistakes as the assasin of yushin's father, and 2nd when Chunchu married boryang..
I like him also in his I chose you dialog with deokman... more to come
Thank.
Can there also be a petition where Yushin and Deokman could finally share the love they had for each other and not just for the love of Silla? For me, Yushin deserves Deokman's love. =)
Had KNG played the role of Yushin, I bet more people would love to see Deokman and Yushin end up together. ^_^
febrie, i agree with you that changing the ending of QSD a little will not in any way change recorded facts about Korean history. But at least it will create a remarkable change in the reactions of the avid followers of the drama. We will all be happier! Besides, we all know the story never really presented what actually happened during the reign of QSD, right? Much was added (and removed) in the story to add spice and thrill to it. Cheonmyeong & Doekman are twins in the story, in reality they were not. Bidam appeared as Mishil's son, in reality he was not. see? It will not be unfair i think if they would make it appear that bidam turned his back from his revolting group after finding out the truth about their treachery. He could face the queen after that. They could talk..Hayy, i'm imagining again...Well, what the petitioners are actually requesting is to have 2-endings.Keep the sad one (for those who can stand sad endings). And then come up with a happier one just for the satisfaction of the viewers.I remember it was done here once in the Philippines. To satisfy all the the viewers(who were divided into two just like QSD), the producers and director of one drama series came up with 2-endings.haha! imagine how powerful televiewers can get! well, it became possible here in our country. In Korea, I'm not quite sure if producers would be willing to walk the extra mile.
Febrie about yushin, yes watch those scenes I mentioned he was cute that way, I guess the funny side of yushin rang...
Dannee I have my own ending in mind which I never shared yet in my hub, it's like this, Princess Chumyeong will not die as what happened in the story, so Deokman and Yushin will really leave silla, and they will eventually start a family hahahahah of course it wont be easy, Chilsuk will still look for them but going back to the desert, Deokman will meet Castan ajeossi again and he will help Deokman and Yushin settle but not in the desert but in Rome, for Deokman knows Chilsuk knows the desert. They will return to desert after 5 years with their kids, while enjoying a family life, jukbang and alcheon will find them again only to tell them about some developments in Silla that the Royal family are requesting for their return. of course mishil is still there, I am still thinking how to make it possible, but the conflict will start once they return to Silla. on their way to Silla, they will encounter an old that will tell them (yushin and deokman) that once they return to where they originally came from, even against their will, they will be separated.... and Bidam is still not out of the picture...... hahaha
Heaven, in our country, tv producers and management listens to the demands of the viewers, or because it means better profit. haven't I asked this before? how come in Korea in spite of fans request on another Lee yo won and Kim nam Gil team up still it was not made possible?I was told they will need to wait for two years before they can team up again... but in our country, when the love team hits, definitely there will be a follow up soap opera or movie... Korea is different, they seem very confident in their talent's bankability.. but I do wish for a better ending. if Deokman Yushin in the end is not possible, I will agree with Deokman Bidam but please dont kill the queen....
very long comment, it's like making another hub hahahha

HI!!
@Maria: *Big round of applause* That's an amazing twist in the story, Maria! I would like to see more of it. Seems like a fanfic in the making! *naeexcite naman ako sa version mo* Please continue your story! I like the part in your story wherein Deokman met again Castan and stayed in Rome! Very nice continuation. But how would you reconstruct Mishil and the mind battles between the Queen-to-be? Thanks!
hi febrie. Im here again!!
Love to read some comments and updates about QSD. Some people including you are amazing... seem like you memorize every episode.
One thing i just dont want now (later part) is Bidam's character.. (sorry Im Yu Shin and Deok Man fan)
I got hurt (huhu) when Deok Man said that she want to live with that of Bidam... :(
Haha...very affected

Danne are you serious, you want me to take that ending seriously hahahha well bout MIshil, like I said once they return to silla, that's the start of conflict Mishil will continue to make life difficult for Yushin and Deokman and gaya, the battle of the minds will continue here....but yushin and deokman will be separated, mishil clan will make a conflict where in marriage between the two will not be recognized in silla, just like in the orig movie yushin will marry yeong mo.. hahaha are we serious about this.... but thanks a lot Dannee I know Febrie will react to our ending...
Evelyn Hi another Yudeok
OMG! this is indeed a really great site for QSD fanatics. after reading all the comments here, i can now have a peace of mind. well QSD made a big impact on my life yesterday (after watching the episode finale on the ineternet). it made me feel uncomfortable of still remembering the face of bidam on his death ( his teary eyes) and of course QSD while her eyes were closing. my heart was aching for real, like if it was about to stop. ang i cant stop thinking till now why the ending was like that. this is more tragic than Titanic or Romeo and Juliet. yes, she's really a lonely queen, how sad.
anyway as i browse koreandrama.org's page last night i found that yoo seung ho (price chun chu) played as young damdeok (Damdeok became the 19th King of Goguryeo)in The Story of the First King's Four Gods. And yesterday while watching the last part of "Hero" on TV5,Phils. The actor (videographer) looks like Bi Dam. uhmm, im not really sure.
ive seen lots of asian drama since meteor garden became a popoular hit in the philippines. but most of the dramas i have watched was from GMA 7 coz this network has a better signal in our place. and in addition to GMA7 is QTV's asianovelas. right now they brought back coffee prince(my favorite of all) and jumong. jewel in the palace and the first king's four gods, aka The Legend, also made a repeat on this station.
anyway, The Legend was also a good kdrama. actually there was a similarity on the issues regarding to who was the real love of the lead character. and both the endings were also tragic for both leads. but on my opinion QSD has a clearer ending than The legend. There was also a petition from the viewers to make a different ending ( the real ending of the legend was changed due to the lead actors injury) and viewers were really disappointed by the changed ending.
anyway "historians" of this page, may i know who are the poeple of goguryeo, baekje and shilla on our present time. If there were great kings and queens from the past history why is that south and north korea are separated now? does the problem rooted from the ancient issues of kingdomship? hmmm, korean history is really quite intriguing.
thanks for the brain storming sessions here. it really helped a lot!
Febrie, Princess Chumyeong will die in my ending hahahah... and I am thinking of Deokman ending up with Bidam hihihi. I wiil try to think about after I finished writing my next article for a pet mag here in the PHil.. Please see my hub leaving your pets behind so you'll meet my other dog PM
@Febrie: Hahaha.. wow what a different twist you have there for your ending. Your hub became not just a forum but also for fan fictions. I hope more fellow QSD lovers will share their own endings here so we could always feel the "QSD effect" in our lives. You're right, Febrie, we're all having fun here! =)
Hmm.. how about continuing the love triangle between Cheomyeong-Yushin-Deokman and how Mishil will use that to her advantage? haha.. then alcheon to the rescue or bidam? hmm.. haha (twisted thoughts already)
@ febrie: oh my gosh!
its been a month i think since i visited this hub and look at the long comments! this is just great febrie!!! qsd is nearing its end in Phil tv and i will again cry buckets of tears. hehehe! i really miss bidam! hey, i want to vote for kng and lyw at seoul awards but i could not enter. why is that?
@ marie
if i had my way, i would have wanted an ending where deokman and bidam marry and have kids (twin boys, and a girl) a girl who would later become the next MIShil. and eventually whom they would have to deal with.
and i was toying with the idea that both bidam and deokman abdicated the throne and gave it to chunchu who also got to reign but was cut short because boryang was also another mishil who attempted to gain the throne but was eventually overpowered by the couple.
but i cant think of a happy ending either. but i agree i would want a happy ending for the bidam and qsd. :-)
@ febrie, im thinking also what if bidam and deokman's daughter ended up marrying a Baekje prince? that would in the end pave way for the unification of the 3 kingdoms.;-)
@lbm: i understand baekje, silla, goguryeo are now all part of south korea. =)
How about a developing love between Chumyeong and alcheon hihihi.... more later promise
queen seon deok is really one of my fav historical series.
u cant predict what will happen next..
amazing!!
Hello everyone,
I'm "QSD" from soompi forum. Deokman_7272k there has invited me to come, so here I’m.
Thanks Febrie for the informative history and Hwarang things. Now I know what Seondeok means. Indeed, she is the Great Queen. Her foremost duty is to provide the peaceful living conditions for people.
It’s nice to see this site going and going and still going, like energizer, even though many of us have already finished the series, and God knows how long ago that is. Long live Queen Seondeok!!!!!!!!!
Nice to see QSD here, yes I am deokman7272k
Nice to see QSD here, yes I am deokman7272k
Hi QSD! Welcome to the club! =)
@Maria: Alcheon and Cheonmyeong love story - that's cool! "Oo nga noh! Bagay nga naman sila" (Oh yeah! They look good together!) Tell us your story! :D
@Hanski: That's a nice story too! haha.. bidam and deokman's child to become the next mishil. Allow me to continue that part: she'll fall-in-love with Yushin's son - the pungwolju in the making. But Yushin's son is in love with Alcheon's daughter. Alcheon's daughter will become the Deokman's daughter's greatest rival in Yushin's son's heart and in politics.
Wow! I'm really enjoying this. Would someone consolidate all our ideas? It's like a QSD movie! Haha! XD
Dannee in my version Yushin and Deokman will have 3 children so if we combine it will make our story doubly complicated... Febrie... please moderate hahahah..

Febrie 7272k refers to Peso's date of birth which is July 27, 2000.. of course you know my dear peso? will comment more later..
Today is QSD's last day in the philippines. In the final night the philippines will witness the tragic death of Bidam and the very sad death of the queen.... ohh Im going to cry again.... it's more intense in tagalog....
@marie: yes, and its going to be torture again. my qsd fanatic friends and i have agreed to wear black after the last episode is aired. we're really going to mourn! ;-)
@febrie, and danee: yes. i was toying also with the idea that bidam's daughter will be that powerful--imagine she has the brains and the skills of both bidam and deokman (and her grandmother, mishil) for sure. and she would surely wreak havoc in silla and probably in baekje.
but my storyline is this: after giving birth to twin sons, and a daughter, deokman and bidam will abdicate the throne and give it to chunchu and live in mt. taebek.
i want thte idea of twin sons (since deokman and cheonmyong are twin sisters) for both of them, one would end up marrying chunchu's daughter (with boryang). boryang, who we thought was a nice girl, was actually a cunning, and shrewd woman who would also attempt to gain silla's throne. because she grew to envy deokman who was able to rule silla, she will attempt to assassinate her own daughter whom she sees as a biggest rival to the throne. chunchu's wife will then work on murdering their daughter while the child is still young. chunchu, in an attempt to save their daughter, will send her away to a far country where she would be trained in martial arts.
however, chunchu would soon abdicate the throne because his health failed him and called for his daughter to come back so he could transfer the crown to her. but boryang will intercept the plan and instead pursue to assasinate their own daughter. however, their daughter will be rescued by a royal court nanny (just like the role of sohwa) and will raise up the child, who unfortunately loses her memory because of the harrowing ordeal.
chunchu will become devastated after learning the news that his daughter was murdered and angry at his wife, will order yushin rang and archeon rang to call back bidam's family to silla so he could transfer the kingship back to him. instead of allowing boryang to take the reins, chunchu prefers to bestow the crown to bidam and allow the couple to reign. chunchu would then give the last words to bidam regarding his daughter, who in his heart, he believes is not yet dead. but since his time is running out, and he is about to die, he has no choice but to leave silla to bidam rather than to boryang.
15 years later, silla's politics is as challenging as when mishil was alive. boryang, together with her father (prince bojong, bidam's half brother), misaeng, sejong will try to help boryang get the throne and eliminate bidam. but their plans are always derailed because bidam has the best allies, deokman and their twin sons (who will grow up also as warriors) and their daughter (whom they do not know was very well versed in martial arts), yushin (the military general) and archeon rang (prime minster) and the rest of the gang.
but here's the twist: bidam and deokman's daughter at first made it appear she does not know martial arts, but little do they know that she was able to learn with the help of a baekje prince whom the family met while they were outside silla. but they do not know that that family were from the baekje royal family and were just posing as any ordinary family. bidam does not want his daughter to learn martial arts he only trained the boys, but she would be able to learn the basics by JUST WATCHING. (the same way bidam did when he learned from munno). and then with the help of this prince she was able to apply what she learned. and then as yougn as they are they will develop a romantic relationship. but their love story was cut short when the family was called back to silla and they returned. the two made an agreement to meet again in the future and keep in touch by burying their love letter for each other underneath a huge tree at mt. taebek.
at silla, boryang who could not gain the throne will attempt to dethrone deokman and she would want to be bidam's second wife. because of this, the seongol family is at a loss on how they would deal with boryang. however, only their daughter would be able to deal with boryang but she could only keep the woman at bay..
then one day, bidam's daughter who refuses to be accompanied by hwarangs, would encounter bojong's men while strolling at an outskirt village in seorabol. she would have nearly lost her life if not for another girl who suddenly appeared and helped her fight bojong and his army. indebted to her, she would ask the girl to be her servant and the girl agrees. unknown to both of them she is chunchu's daughter.
bidam's daughter then brings chunchu's daughter to the capital and presents her to her father, mother brothers, yushin , archeon and other hwarangs, she announces that she wants chunchu's daughter to be her personal guard much to the amazement of the other hwarangs. she defends her decision saying she has personally witnessed the martial arts skills of the girl but one of her twin brothers will oppose. but to their chagrin, bidam accedes to her request and the girl becomes her personal confidante and guard.
but chunchu's daughter is also a feisty creature who becomes bidam's daughter's best friend. however, boryang finds out about the girl and is interested to make her one of her people. in an unexpected turn of events, bidam's daughter finds out about the identity of the girl (with the help of jukbang who unwittingly becomes her spy), but keeps the information to herself. king bidam suddenly called for a family meeting with yushin and archeon present, and suddenly tells them of a letter of chunchu for his daughter. but the letter cannot be opened because it was folded in such a different and complicated manner. they have no idea how the letter could be opened without its contents getting ripped. and the only one familiar with such kind of paper folding, they believe, the one who could open and unravel the contents of the letter would be chunchu's daughter. (let's remember chunchu knows many kinds of paper folding even before he became king).
bidam then gives one of his twin sons the responsibility of finding chunchu's daughter. he was the one who opposed having a woman hwarang for his sister. in his search for chunchu's daughter, he eventually learns of her identity and falls in love with his sister's bestfriend.
however, silla again experienced another threat from baekje. boryang and her people are trying all means to manipulate court proceedings in the guise of "helping silla's military." but bidam's daughter and chunchu's daughter, and the twin princes will eventually win the war. it was at this point, the royal family learned of bidam's daughter's knowledge in martial arts and her ingeniuty in military tactics.
but after baekje, silla came under threat from goguryeo whom silla is unaware was able to muster enough force to go to war. the twin princes and yushin were taken captive. in their expedition, bidam's daughter asked chunchu's daughter to pose as the "pricness of silla", while she posed as an ordinary hwarang. they then set out for a rescue operation and went and attack goguryeo's army. they eventually succeeded and went back to silla.
after much celerbation in silla, chunchu's daughter, still unaware of her own identity, asked persmission to bidam's daughter to be allowed to go home to her mother. (this is the nanny who rrescued her whom she thought was her real mother). though she agreed, she was skeptical at allowing the girl to go back by herself, she then asked her brother (the one who feels devotion to chunchu's daughter) to secretly follow her trail. on her way to a remote place where she lived with her "mom", chunchu's daughter finds out she is being followed. a fight ensued between her and the prince. but she was eventually overpowered. she then agreed to be accompanied to her mother's place on one condition: that he do not reveal his legacy and just pretend he is just an ordinary hwarang.
ok...i will continue my Storyline...tomorrow...

howdy friends!
my heart is breaking this will be the last day of QSD on Phil. TV for now (there might be reruns on the later date, i hoped!) I will terribly missed this drama every night for 8months, i stayed up late even though i had finished watching it on dvd. how i wish there could be another QSD that will entice me to sleep late at night and to tease our imagination on how it is to lived on the early korea.
hello!!! just finished watching QSD final episode here in the Philippines... i must say that ive never been moved by a koreanovela before like queen seon deok.. it is truly phenomenal... lee yo won is my idol.. she's just a superb actress.. perfect for the role of queen seon deok.. i also love kim nam gil i fell inlove with his character bidam.. i look forward to the next project of lee yo won.. QSD the best!!!
I nearly cried last night because the dialog was in tagalog and it's more intense, for the last yushin declined the queens request to run away with him but of course they know the situation already, the queen is dying. My dog peso disturbed me last night for the first time, I was taking photos in TV when I suddenly saw a dog's nose, he interrupted me which made not too focus with the saddest scene. He maybe thought I was torturing myself watching bidam and queen died over and over again..
the final scene has done//
I feel like wanna cry in that final episode... Bidam is really great warrior!!
Though i felt bit happy when the queen said she want to run away (magtanan) with Yushin... sadly it cant be...
This is really one of a kind and phenominal!!!
@febrie, marie: hehehe. is that so? i guess i got carried away because of my frustration over the ending ...and because i am frustrated (and tortured) after watching last night's ending on phil tv, i can't help continue with my own ending version. aaarrrgggh!!!
i really think it would be nice to add some spice. deokman wanting yushin's son to marry her daughter. but she would still end up escaping with the baekje prince leaving yushin's son brokenhearted...
i'll work on it, promise! =)
i'm very sad that my favorite character have to die in the end. . .it's bi dam. . .as a matter of fact it's the character of bi dam made me attracted to this drama. . .with last few episodes i already knew that bi dam would die. . .it makes me sad. .i almost don't want to see the final episode but i can't resist myself. . .so i watched it end and ...and my tears came out from my eyes as i see my favorite character lied into the ground. . .it's a very sad ending. . .i love this drama. .
I had no trouble navigating through Air Joran all the tabs and information was very easy to access.
im super affected to this drama...i really really love this story...
I'm getting sad and sentimental listening and watching QSD concert. Listening to male version of windflower.... I wonder how the stars feel, affecting us this way...
this drama was heartrobbing for me. especially to bidam . I have watched last episode many times but it still made me crying hard watch bidam dying with his bloody tears :''''(((
I'm bidam and deok man fan from cambodia .. I love this drama much much .. U know where cambodia ?? Anyway nice to see u all :D
A TOAST TO QSD for its success in conquering the hearts & minds of filipino people!!
i felt at lost when it ended it was bitter-sweet for me since i finally understand the significance of the ring which in the earlier part of this hub one had asked. It was not that seeing the ring which made Yuahin cried but the realization that his dearly beloved Deokman had passed away,unhappy..
and now it hit me, what will be our next topic of discussion, i know that QSD is very difficult to surpassed..
Thx ... It's is my favorite drama .. I love their smile especially lyw and kng ..
i really love queen seon dok and bidam..i want to watch it over and over again.. it influence me a lot!!!
@Hanski: WOW! What an amazing story! *thundering round of applause* Can't wait for more! That's really an awesome one! I totally agree with Maria, you went that far with your own ending version. I salute your creativity! =D
So sad =( I wasn't able to watch the ending at Phil TV! huhuhuhuhu! Got so damn busy with work!
@Febrie: Your hub and our online friends here keeps my stress away! Thanks everyone! =)
ciao everyone!!
how can i be able to access the OST of QSD, i mean tried downloading but it was useless, i cant open it..
will somebody HELP ME!!!
i surely would owe you if you can suggest an easy for me to access their OST, im busy at work and cant surf freely..
This is the best korea-true-to-life drama novela i ever seen. -ted
Feb, can I call you Feb? I was searching for Bidam of Silla and I come across your hub page, it's a great page and at first I thought you are from Korea, but you're from Indonesia! THAT'S GREAT! I like Queen Seon Dok and right now I'm watching Jumong again. I first saw Lee Yo Won in the drama series Sad Love and I didn't like her character there but she's quite good here in Seon Dok. I like Kim Nam Gil too but Um Tae Wu (Yushin) have great eyes...his light brown eyes mesmerizes me :)) Is he an action star? He has a brother who's an actor too right?
For Feb and all, I've been searching for Lord Bidam of Silla but it seems there's no available info about him...of course he is not Mishil's son in real history. Is he from Japan or China?
The scriptwriter of QSD is great, in the last scenes he was able to manipulate and make viewers glued to QSD bec of great dialogues...although I felt that when Mishil died it was a bit boring for a while...
@Feb, you know this is the only site that I was somehow convince to join in the discussions...I was watching the videos and was surprised to see Lee Won's wedding!!!
really?lee yo won is already married..? how sad(for me).but i'm happy for her..
@lem; yeah i was surprised about it too, she has a six year old child too...
Too bad I only discovered this site yesterday, QSD have already ended here ih the Philippines, so am quite late...I'm watching East of Eden at GMA and I must say that am "adjusting" bec after watching QSD for more than 7 mos which is a period historical drama, here comes East of Eden a contemporary drama with present day time and setting...the lead character is very good and acting is intense.
Yes , I'll ..
Bidam Rang .. Yushin Rang .. Seolwon Rang .. Deok Man Rang
wow how long have I been out too many comments feb... well looks like it happened to me too, too sad for funny reasons, I was sad for a week after QSD, coinciding with busy scheds from work, 2 days seminar and anniversary celebration, and breakfast with the most popular filipino in the world(hahahah)... anyway QSD and Lee yo won is in my heart, still need to finish my QSD and the challenge of TV Photography... just keep on posting guys..
How come we don't get yahoo notifications for the replies we get for our comments?
Back to Korea novelas...I almost viewed all the dramas being shown on GMA and my top picks are...
Coffee Prince
Kim Sam Soon
Fated To Love You
Stairway to Heaven
One Liter of Tears
These are just contemporary dramas, period and historical dramas like QSD and Jumong are of course TOPS!!!
How about you?
assalamu'alaikum.. .
i hope everyone is fine. . .
i miss that drama . . .sana may replay. . .hindi ako magsasawa kakapanood . . .i llove QSD. . .
Hi everyone!
Feb! I am hoping for that day that we could visit S.Korea and tour around Gyeongju. Shilla museum sounds a good place to see too! =) And also pay a visit to the tombs of the great general Yushin and the Queen.
@Maria: Who's that most popular Filipino in the world? Manny Pacquiao? Lea Salonga? =D that's so cool! I wish I could see CATS!
Alicious check your spam folder, sometime it goes there..
Danny I mean the most important man in the Philippines... Office anniversary and our President is a guest...
My favorites for life, of course QSD, Cruel Love, Sassy Girl Chunyang, Jewel in the Palace, Jumong, endless love, stairway to heaven. but only Lee Yo won and Uhm tae wong made a mark in my heart.... but I admire Lee Yung Ae too...
It's ok Febrie, I proclaimed myself as your site's caretaker hahaha
Cruel love is such a depressing story...Lee Yo Won's character is so "subdued"
By the way what is RANG? I read Yushin Rang, Alcheon Rang etc...
Outside of the 4 main leads actors of Deokman, Yushin, Bidam, and Mishil, is there one or more other character that you like? For me, I like Jukbang for his comical scenes and as a side-kick of Deokman when she was in the nangdo days. I also adore Alcheon for his loyalty to the queen.
I believe one of the reasons why QSD was so successful because there are many loveable characters. It seems I don’t dislike any of the whole cast, well, maybe for Yeomjong or Chunchu in the beginning or the king. But none of them would drive my blood pressure to the rooftop. It’s rare for a historical period drama that has no one that would annoy the hell out of you.
I always like the character of Siyeol, from nangdo days, and I believed one of the scenes where LYW had great acting was the one with him... who is Siyeol he is the most coward nangdo but always at Deokman's rescue even if he can't fight and always ended up beaten... I always like his scene with LYW when Deokman slapped him on the face and attempted to punch him but she too was stopping herself, she said I hate you for making me feel I need to kill you in order for me to survive... his role was short he died in war... Jukbang and godo did well too, of course sohwa when she was younger, I can't forget her when the king told her to help the queen deliver the baby, and also her reaction when the king entrusted the baby to her.... she was good, in fact she made me panic when she hesitated to bring the baby with her and attempted to leave her to the palace guard..
..i really missed qsd!!!
Febrie I have a question about seguk films in Korea, but not sure if this it is appropriate to ask here where ever7body can see?
I'm a bit confuse because we all know that Saeguk even a simple kiss is not allowed, I saw one saeguk movie, I think the title is "Frozen Flower", I am just curious about how korean's made their movies, or simply because it's a movie, Lovescenes are allowed? are you familiar with this movie?

i love you yo seung ho very very much all of my life
quen seon deok is the best major major ever i am so interesting in this story all of the korean novela ever lee yo won is so very good actress and she is so beautiful kim nam gil as so very handsome ever
hi! ate febriedethan i like your coments i like lee yo won very very much bcuz she is a good actress and yoo seung ho is so very cute and charm
BIDEOK.........FOREVER
what is saeguk films?
YUDEOK...........FOREVER..........
febrie looks like I will need someone to translate to me some interesting korean movie, saw episode 13 or Handphone of Uhm tae wong and Kim nam gil was there.. You think these actors are also capable of daring roles? looks like Lee Yo Won is the real limited when it comes to love scenes..
Maria and Febrie, is there any arrangement from the Director of these two great and smart/witty movies-QSD and Dae Jung Geum for a second movies (PART II)....really love these 2 movies..
CIRA-Phil and KSA not sure about it I think Febrie can answer you better she is more updated I think
About lee yo won yes my favorite actress is maintaining a sweet image, I saw few of her films with kissing scene, the shot is always very far.... was she like even when she was not married yet?
Febrie just want to tell you about Handphone I watched 2/13 episode and you are right about Kim nam gil on daring roles, he was the one making love with a woman in a handphone video, and that woman was UHM tae wong's talent, with a sweet image... it was a funny movie, so happy to see them in a very awkward role, and how UTW run after KNG here. Imagine KNG accepting payment or bribe from UTW in exchanged of the video.. KNG's role is so humiliating here but so amuse to see them in a different light hahahah
Hello Febrie, Maria and you all! Long time no see... how r u all?
I'm sorry for not posting a comment here for such a long time, but i missed this page ;)
Here's a video with KNG http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GE-cJJ5YGqA isn't he cuteeee?
FEbrie, kindly check which came out first if QSD or handphone or during QSD. Even UTW here is so different, he can actually hurt his talent a female. I think it's a good movie..
Febrie handphone came out first before Queen Seon Deok
FEbrie even though I dont understand it, I think it's good movie, UTW is also very funny there, though it was a serious role....and he is goodlooking..but both him and KNG smoked in the movie..... typical man of the world.. I think I miss LYW when I saw them
Febrie I watched handphone episode 1 and I was surprised to see Uhm tae wong singing wildly he took off his clothes left only shorts and he was dancing with a woman without bra.... hahahah it's hard to believe when you get used to him as the formal yushin rang...
you see UTW is wild, and KNG is shrewd..hahaha but I saw Bidam smile when he received the bribe...I think UTW had done wild roles too in his past film, I think Koreans are liberated, only LYW is not
I am not sure coz I haven't watch the movie in full but i watch the last part, I saw UTW with scars at the side of his face, then this man came with a picture of his wife with somebody and it looked like they had a relationship, then he got something from his drawer looks like a copy of ultrasound result, which has bloodstained in it, then he cried and shouted, well he realized maybe that he was not the father of the child. that was the ending.. about the wife, I am not sure, but she was the one who killed the man who got UTW's celphone, how she killed him, during the man and his husband's commotion, i skipped sorry, then something exploded, I am not sure if she's inside that place that exploded, I guess I need to watch it again...
oh I see I did not see the part that he strangled his wife what I saw was they were embracing each other.. I had a feeling that my guess is the opposite of what happened in the story... it was a very tragic story. who was the lawyer that he was jealous about?definitely a different utw that I have seen in QSD
febrie handphone is nolonger at youtube
My God this is the first ever drama movie which really touch my every single corner of mind. even i am dreaming to come to the old shilla in korea... so please heeeeeelpppppppp to make it true
i miss lee yo won.is there any show she's doing currently?
thanks for the info..hope it'll be aired here in the philippines..
can i ask if chunchu had gotten married in real life
FABRIE, ARE THERE MANY DIFF.IN THE QSD DRAMA, AND QSD IN REAL LIFE...I HOPE TO KNOW?!?!?!!!!! THANKS>>>>>>>>>>>
this drama is very great!
this dragged me to tune in to my hatest channel in the Philippines. when QSD was aired in the philippines like about past few months now since it lasted, i really had my eye glued to the tv at 10pm. unfortunately, i used to hate the tv network, i stopped watching it and bought a dvd instead! gosh! the drama is packed with so much episodes! like i watched it nearly 12 hours a day in 1 week! for me, QSD must have been greater if it was aired on the rival network! this drama was unfortunate in the philippines cuz it only had the high ratings on the the first few months and flopped on the succeeding months.
but generaly, it is a huge drama!
temptation of wife is great!!haha
hi febrie! its been a long time and i missed this hub of yours. i neglected doing a follow-up sequence of my own version of QSD ending. even then, i hope the QSD continue to rock!
after QSD, i watched East of Eden, but i was not much of a follower of this show. now, i'm hooked on baker king (king of baking, kim tak gu). its a very nice drama and also because of the fact, i like to bake too.
other than kim tak gu, and Bad guy, i am also watching in MySoju.com, My Princess, Temptation of Wife (which is too long)and Athena: Goddess of War.. geezzz... i think im getting addicted to k-drama...
hehehehe! ;-)
HI Hanski I just dropped by and nice to see you here.. I watched east of eden too and came to like Lee Yung Hae and I am also hooked on baker king and like the baker King's father hahahaha...I like to bake too but I love too eat more.....
I am missing Lee Yo won and I heard she will have a new soap opera this coming march and the title is 49 days
Reyn I wonder why you hate the Channel, what worst did it do to you?Just enjoy that shows and don't get too involved, just a piece of advice.
hi maria! hi! its good to hear from you too. now, we're on to something new. i hope febrie's gonna do another blog about baker king. and yes i heard about lee yo won's movie, surprise party. saw it at mysoju.com. hey, i want to watch Handphone but i can't find a link...
i got to watch Portrait of a Beauty and my, i was speechless...but definitely KNG's got great acting, really. and i hate how it ended but it was still a great story.
anyway, what else did i watch...a little of "frozen flower" (its a good movie though so liberated) it has a superb storyline. but right now, i want to finish my princess. park ye jin (princess cheonmyeong, queen seon deok) plays bad here and i have a feeling im gonna hate her the same way i hate han eun jung in full house. besides lee yo won, i love kim tae hee too. i hope to see them together in a movie or drama. i hope after GMA7 airs baker king they'll line up My Princess next.
;-) so what have you been up to lately?
and maria, i like song seung hun (east of eden) he reminds of bidam. he's in My Princess too the male lead actor in the drama. he plays the diplomat in charge of educating the princess in foreign studies and etiquette. ;-)
helu everyone!! im also back after a while.. i sorely missed QSD and East of Eden didnt measure up as i expected.. I also watch Baker King but not avidly. Im still longing for another series that would make me fall in loved liked QSD but until now i couldnt find one, nothing can compare..
And i also missed the people that i exchanged ideas and opinions here and to say Kumusta to Febrie?( that means how are you? in Filipono)
loved to hear from you guys..
il drop by again soon..
I loved this drama so much. I was really impressed with Ms. Lee Yowon. Now, I am waiting for her next drama, hope I will not be waiting so long, missed her. BTW, you have a great discussion here, amazing.
hi febrie!
hey! im glad to know you've also watched kim tak gu. i would appreciate it if you also make some review about it in English so i can also post comments there. haven't seen the others except i started episode 1 of secret garden but i guess my princess is still my best bet. however, since QSD, i haven't seen a good historical movie that really moved me to tears.
about KNG, yes i was thinking the same thing. but i think kim gyu ri is a known korean actress in the erotic genre. (i checked out her profile of movies and dramas). and i think that min in do was just one of her serious roles. and as you mentioned in your previous comments, i agree with you that most , if not all, korean actors and actresses are somewhat daring and adventurous when it comes to accepting sexy roles like this. Uhm Tae Wong also is a liberated actor.
febrie, tell me when your english review of kim tak gu (baker king) is out so i can read it and have fun posting comments. in fact, just now, i baked my very own choco-banana bread!
have a nice day to marie, vhenn and to all! =)
Happy valentines friends nice to see you all here again.. I think I need to watch all those that you have mentioned I just need to know how.... I am curious about KNG's movie, by the way I found a Dvd of Cyrano Agency of Uhm Tae wong, with English Translation, it's a good love story too and very short... no doubt tae wong is really a good actor, hope to see him in soap opera again... I am counting also on how long are we going to wait for Kim nam gil, Tak goo of baker king reminds me of him well in some acting and facial expression
well febrie I guess you need to make a hub for baker king, and find me more interesting trivia about his father hahahaha
Febrie hahahaha I don't know tak gu's father just fascinated me hahahaha...I saw one BTS of LYW's 49 days and they had that photo of Goseuong Building but I forgot the name of the building but it has Paris something not sure if Paris bread?
@febrie, maria, vhenn, and to all...happy valentines day!
yes, please, febrie, if you have time to blog about kim tak gu. tnx! yes i love to bake. but im not a master baker (not yet...hahaha) wish i could give you guys a taste...maybe one day, who knows? ;-)
anyway, i understand why maria is fascinated with tak gu's father. he played stepfather to jumong in the jumong series. i would also be watching cyrano agency because of uhm tae wong.
oh my! seems like i found myself good friends who are k-drama addicts...super like! =)
thanks febrie, will wait for your review on kim tak gu =)
Hanski; febrie, and the rest looks like we have our temporary house while waiting for the soap opera of our favorite actors and actress... see you there...
hi maria! yup you're right =)
eow evryone!!
even though its quite late but still i want to greet u all a belated happy valentines, those who still frequent this hub and to febrie.
lately i been also addicted to watching k-drama, and falling in loved with it. im more partial though to romantic, comedy flicks, im not up to long drama like QSD w/c broke my heart bcoz of the sad ending. I think i could not afford another QSD so i stir out of them for the time being..
so far i liked personal taste where Jung-Pyo(boy's over flower) acted on a mature role, he is very cute though whatever his role is.
i dont know bout u guys but im recently in loved with Mary stayed out all night. the drama was really cute and and so easy to watch. for those of you who already watched it i would like to hear some of your comments regarding this k-drama and febrie if you have sometime, please can u do hub also for Mary stayed out all night(heard that this was also a hit in korea) and i also want some info regrding the lead actor Jang Geun Suk. I also like their OST whic the lead actor sung and composed for this particular drama.
il be lookig forward to your posted comments, im sorry though im not much of a fan of Baker King, i didnt watched it although it was aired here.
il be back soon to browse, loved to hear from u guys

febrie haven't heard about Mary, but I already made one hub about Cyrano Agency, at least it's not a soap opera but a movie... I am waiting for LYW's 49 days and it is showing this march, hope you can share me a l;ink where I can watch it.

thanks Febrie wait for my Lee Yo won hub soon
Just want to say... This is the best ancient love drama story i have ever seen with such a fantastic and heartwarming Soundtracks! My tears always fall when i hear all the touching parts and happiness and laughter filled me when i hear the happy moments! Well done Queen Seon Dok Cast!! Thank you very much!
hi febrie, and to all of you here!
Marie: my princess is now airing in abs-cbn and i just got bewildered because most of the lead actors came from the k-dramas that were aired in the rival network GMA7. like kim tae hee-winter sonata, song seung hun-east of eden and park ye jin-queen seon dok.
i learned abs got the rights to it even while it was still airing in seoul. however, i don't know how i could reconcile the fact because KTH here plays a long lost princess who is supposed to be a fan of "Mishil" (from QSD) and Jang Geum (Jewel in the Palace)--both saeguk dramas were aired in GMA and so is that ok with ABS? Oh well i guess it is, i just hope they wouldn't edit that part KTH was acting like Mishil...
anyways, i guess as long as it is aired in the Philippines and we got to watch it dubbed in Tagalog, its ok. coz the drama is really so good, one of the best, if not the one, romantic comedy that no one should miss...
and have you watched LYW's movie the Recipe?
Febrie: thanks for the baker king review.. you really do well in making drama and movie reviews...
hope to see all of you here again...regards vhenn, belated happy valentines day too! ;-)
Even if kho hyun jung is the villain i still like her .shes the best actress for me !this show is great .
im also watching 49 days too! its a great drama. i love lee yo won! :-)
Saya Kagum dengan apa yang ada dalam cerita.
I love this page, you did a great job with the research of the History on the real Silla kingdom and its 27th ruler Great Queen Deok Seok. I crossed referece with other pages to search for Lady Mi Shill and I had same problem; she was not mention at the same period of Queen Seok Deok. Maybe you think they purposely change history to forget her existence or some thing like that, in many kingdoms' the history was altered and written (log) differently as not to give that person too much glory. Just maybe....or maybe the writers of this series just wanted to make it more exiting. Anyway I did like Lady Mi Shill role, because not only was she smart, but also she was a powerful woman who stand up against many obstacles and came out winning. You could learn a lot from her, and even princess Deokman said that she was a wonder opponent and that because of her she became who she was. In other words she learned from her. I'm just saying that according to the series, Lady Mi shill was a great character as well. I actually felt sorry for her and her struggles since she also loved the Silla nation. For some reason she was not good enough to became a queen; but her bravado, smartness and courage can not be denied. Every one can see that she was relentless in her pursue to become a queen. This actor did a wonderful job in portraying that role and I loved her facial expressions as well. I did love the role of Bidam as well, the son that she abandon. That was cruel, but coincidentally and amazingly despite that Bidam did not grow up with her, he was the one that most inherited her personality and in reality that's what really happens with children with up sent parents that's the wonder of DNA. Hahahaha, I really got into this drama series and I love all the details and the brain twisting dilemmas and planning all the plotting and skimming of the nobles, I'm telling you rich people never change they just change names and colors but under the skirts they are the same devils. Finally I love my little princess Deokman, with out her they would have a Queen seokDeok, she was great, witty and funny, very smart and innocent at the same time. I read that some folklore mention about some white frogs croaking and that she unravel the meaning of that, to mean that angry men from the west? were coming to war against Silla; that was amazing for a child to come up with all of that a her own. I guess orientals embellish into that dip philosophical and color coding of everything. I mean who thought them that? for a tree to a flower, from a frog to a butterfly, a meaning to everything, mindbogglingly to me. Kiss and hugs to you, love your paper again, very much appreciated. This drama series has just finished airing in NJ, USA a few months ago. It is an excellent K-drama, very well produced. The script is outstanding, the acting is believable, and the cast is very well chosen. The ending, though sad, is moving and truthful. On the road to power, one may lose the most precious thing in life, and love without trust only leads to disaster and sorrow. Every time I watch the ending, I can’t stop crying. In real life, there are many like Queen Seon Deok, who seem to have everything, yet can’t hold on to anything. The ending makes one think carefully of what’s really important in life.
My favorite Korean Drama to this day is still “the Return of Iljimae”, partially because of the great finale. It leaves me with peaceful and bitter-sweet feeling, another reason is the lead, the young and talented actor, Jung IL Woo and I wrote quite a few hubs concerning this drama mini-series. Also, the actress, who played Queen Seon Deok stars in a new drama series with Jung Il Woo, called “49 Days”, the pair looks great together, and the story is another tearjerker.

Great post. Thanks for taking the time to put all this information up. I absolutely love the costumes.
i just came across this show and, man, I can't express just how lucky i am to have found it on Hulu.com. oh, the drama is just incredible. the mind-game or mind-dual between deokman and Mishil was just amazing. I was glad that deokman won in the end but i was also sad to see Mishil die as well because she was just as incredible in her own ways. man, this show made me stay up until 5am every night. the subtitles really got me thru. I really love this show! It really shows how much one has to be to be a great strategist to be a great leader. Love this show.
This is thE LOVERY DRAMA
The filam has just ended in Tanzania's ITV. It was very interesting one. Bi dam, Dokman, Yusin and Mishil among others made this filam of a life time I have never seen before. It is more than nice drama. Keep it up! I'll never forget the Great Quieen in my life.
