The Differences Between Notebook and Netbook

Updated on July 4, 2009

The Computer Industry has delivered new product species, It looks like Notebook but it's not. This product is called Netbook. Maybe most of you have known this. So, what is Netbook anyway and what is the differences between Notebook and Netbook ?
Netbook is like a little versionfrom Notebook. But it different if you look  from :

1. The Function
This is the most basic differences. Netbook is built for a content consumption customer. Notebook is for a content maker customer. Netbook is more suitable for user who use this tool for internet, chatting, listening to music and video. While Notebook has a lot more duty and more suitable for those who create the content, such as editing video and images.

2. The Size
Netbook has a monitor limited size. The monitor size is just 7 to 10 inch. If bigger than 10 inch, it's not Netbook anymore. While Notebook Monitor size is 10 to 17 inch.
The availability of input and output in the netbook is also more limited. With the tiny and practical size, this device has no optical disk drives and only rely on the USB slot. The reason is because the netbook intentionally made as compact as it may be taken to facilitate the users. This is in line with the usage more inclined to content consumption.

Another difference is in term of the processor. Netbook use Intel Atom processor mostly that consume less power than the processor for the Notebook, of course, with the consequences of the lower process speed, but still comfortable enough to do office work and internet. With the lower process speed and the tiny monitor size, the batery power will stand longer.

3. The Price
