Home based business is my favorite. Now I run my own local website selling Interactive Voice Response software and helping people build their call center service. But all the softwares are built by my husband I don't have my own product. So, I start to search what kind of home based business that I could do by my own. In my country almost every household has its own home based business maybe because of the economic condition and the law is okay with that as long as you pay the tax and it's a legal business. Here are some ideas of home based business ideas that I myself would like to do it in the next few months :

1. Play Group or Day Care Center

There are many children under age of 5 in my neighborhood. This is a great opportunity to set up a play group or just a day care center. What you need is strong concept and fun activities to educate and play with the children. You could ask one or a  couple moms in your neighborhood to help and work with you. It's fun and you could take care of your own child and make money.
Or, if you'd like to be more specific, you could open a day care center for children with special need like down syndrome or autistic. Of course, you should have a psichology background or used to care the children in these conditions. But it's a good opportunity if you have the skill, you could do that.
You will need about USD 500 (in Indonesia) for the initial set up, to buy some educative tools, stationery, toys, table and chair, and repairing costs.

2. Computer Course

Not every person could operate the computer specially in my country. So, start a computer course is very interesting business. You need a basic computer skill (like operating systems) and if you have a programming skill it would be more great you could give a course about Java, Delphi, MySql, how to build a website, how to make 2D, 3D animation figure, you could teach about  how to make a presentation using Microsoft Power Point not everybody know that, and many more.
The initial set up is about USD 1,000 to buy at least 3 or 4 units of computer about USD 300 each (used one).

3. Foreign Language and Craft Courses

If you have skill in foreign languanges you could give courses to people. In Indonesia, English course, Chinese course, Japanese course are everywhere. Many use their houses to give private courses. You could be paid monthly or per arrival.
Craft course also interesting. Many people are attracted by this kind of course like paper quilling, silk painting, clay, glass decorating, pottery, and many more.
The initial set up is about USD 1,000 for material and equipment.

4. Robotic Course for children

This kind of course is start attracting people in my country. Many children age 4 to 12 are learning about robot. How to make a simple robot, a robot which could move upward and backward for about 5 seconds to make more complicated robot, like robot which could grab things, until robot that could play football . Children love this course, because they think it's like playing with toys. They even give funny names for their robot like cockroach robot. .
You need many skill to set up this business but it's does not mean unachievable. You have to take robotic class for yourself, there is such course in my country and learn about the robotic programming.
The initial set up is quite big because all the robot material is imported. And the course you have to take is expensive too. I'm not really sure the number but it could reach USD 10,000 or more.

5. Internet Rental

What ? maybe it's strange in many western countries but in Indonesia it's a common business. My neighbor who just a few blocks from mine start this business. Well, not every household has internet connection so it's a very competitive business opportunity. You could set the payment perhour basis. Many young people love to play online games and they could spend hours in internet. In college areas, internet rentals are open 24 hours. I'm serious.
Initial set up about USD 5,000 to USD 6,000 to buy about 20 units computer. The more computer you've got the more income you will have.

6.  Jewelry and beads shop

I just love beads and love to learn how to make necklace, bracelet, earings, and broch. This business is a fast growing one.
The initial set up about USD 200 is much less expensive than the other business. The most cheaper beads are from China, Thailand, and India. You will get cheaper price if you buy in a large quantity.

7. Motorcycle Washing Service

Almost every household has a motorcycle, what you need is a yard don't have to be very wide and a water pump with high pressure. The initial set up is about USD 500 for equipment and tools.

Those are some home business ideas that have potential income. Love to try some.
